I always wanted to "see the light." To unearth the secret of piety and understand religion. But no matter how hard I've tried and closed my eyes to see God, when I open them again nothing is different. Someone once said to me, "God's light shines on you." Oh, if it were only true. I'd love to feel the warmth if it were so. But so often I feel cold and alone. These are not my eyes in the photo--but another young woman's. Maybe she is looking into the light of God. I hope so. I wish I could see this magic so many people believe.

    • I've gone through this search for what is true. It took 30 years. I investigated every world religion and offshoots. This is what I found. There is no truth, or rather no one has the truth. All teach about human reality, not the reality of god. The human mind cannot know god. What we worship is the memories of our safe, comforting, loving first infant experiences. The memories of a tall, powerful, omnipotent, (to a child) father and the earlest memories of a compassionate, lifegiving, forgiving, embracing mother. These are powerful desires which we loose as we grow up. The infant lives in Eden and that joy and acceptance is what drives us to seek the father/god we need as adults. But god is not a male super man in the sky. god has no gender, god has no body. god is not someone but the Sum of all life. If you want to see god look in the mirror. You are the only god others will know. And the only devil others will know. Peace is up to us.

    • i think the jewish appretiation of the intelectual fosters a great tolerabce of athiesm.
add the holocaust into the mix and athiesm can easily flourish
