The Italian girls were stopped as they tried to leave the shop by security who told them they'd been seen on CCTV.
They were taken to a basement room, told they'd commited a 'food contamination' offence and warned they could be prosecuted or fined. The students defended their actions, saying they were just checking how fresh the muffins were. A document given to the girls instructed them to contact a lawyer. Tesco then contacted their carers and let the girls leave the shop.
Earlier this year, the same shop banned a customer from every UK Tesco after he took a bite from a bread roll without paying for it.

You must understand that most articles with a long title only show part of the title on the right side of the computer screen. I saw:
"Teen girls apprehended for squeezing..."
Naturally, my mind races, filling in the gaps. Oooh, what could it be? Teen girls apprehended for squeezing what? OMG, their squeezing each other's muffins!!... oh, wait..... no, they are literally... squeezing muffins. And muffin means... muffin. Not, say, oh, I don't know... something else. Obviously, an article about teenage girls squeezing each other's metaphorical muffins just isn't gonna happen, but I always secretly wish for it when I see truncated article headlines with tantalisingly open-ended ellipses.
So, yeah, anyway, that Tesco sounds right shit. Completely unfair, against human rights, freedom of speech, etc, blah blah

Well at least they didn't squeeze the Charmin because they would have probably been executed.

To be fair, I don't want to buy a pre-squeezed muffin from Tesco. Maybe next time they'll check the sell by date?
