I have this amazing widget on my blog, which keeps on flashing motivational quotes randomly and today it has something really interesting that triggered me to think about it. Well it says- “If what you're working for really matters, you'll give it all you've got” by Nido Qubein.

Nido Qubein is a motivational speaker and president of High Point University, an accredited undergraduate and graduate institution. What is more interesting about Mr.Qubein is the fact that he had been ranked 6th among the most motivational speaker world wide in 2008.

    • I have a quote I heard recently:

"The most successful man is the one whom wakes up every morning and does exactly what he wants."

It essentially means living your dream.

The problem with the quote you mentioned is that it involves "work". Nothing inspiring ever comes from work. By all means, work to achieve your dream, but once there, work should not be part of it.

The quote you mentioned seems to be more about increasing productivity rather than anything at all inspiring or indeed pleasant. Perhaps it was a little lost in translation? Or maybe the guy whom said it wasn't entirely inspirational. Are we talking about inspiration or motivation, here? Possibly, there's a little motivation gained from that quote, but certainly not inspiration.

I did read your article, but to be honest, while your English is pretty good, I find it occasionally difficult to understand what point you're trying to make, it's the way your writing flows, it's sort of disjointed and stuttery, hard to keep track. No offence intended, of course. However, I think I get the gist of it.

I myself recently realised the direction I wanted to take in my life. And, needless to say, it's not at all money-driven. No dream should EVER be about money, and for those that make that the case, they let life pass them by entirely. It's what I want to do and will do, regardless of this money-centric society we live in. We don't need money for survival or to flourish as a species. We DON'T. You CAN achieve your dreams without it. And when you do, you realise what life is truly about. If everyone had higher opinions of themselves as to the spectacular human beings they COULD be, things would be great.

Personally, I think we're all born as slaves, destined to be put into education like brain-washing concentration camps for the first quarter of our lives just so we can then work for half of it, then retire and actually enjoy the last quarter of our lives when we're old. Why is this? "Get a job you lazy bum!" Why? Why do we so blindly follow the masses, the conventions of human life, when we have the power to do and achieve so much more as a species and as individuals? money money money money NEEEED MOAARRR MONIES!!!!

Money is the most detrimental invention of humanity. Why do we put so much faith into something we created ourselves? It's not like money is a god, to be worshipped in case we feel the full force of its wrath. Money is fickle. Just look at the current global recession. Fickle things should never be relied upon.

Ahh, whatever. Talking about people and money makes me wearisome.

Sorry, Vivek, I don't think you were actually talking about money at all.... hmm. Soz =P

Yes, even I felt the same specifically about this post and finally I have someone criticizing it truthfully, I m glad. Before you said that I was thinking perhaps people either are not reading it or they are just seeing the videos but now I happy atleast somebody is reading it. Again I have to blame my "Thought Process" for some unstructured posts. I don't know if it happens with everyone but to me sometimes when I m writing something, there is a kind of uncontrolled reaction triggered in my brain, an explosion of thoughts, a thunderstorm of pros and cons, and like the plutonium's nuclear reaction the write up burst in a form of nuclear bomb. Nuclear bomb is dreadful and so becomes my texts instead of being fruitful or nicely structured.
But thanks for pointing it out, I promise you I m working on it and assure you that it will get better only.

Coming back to post, I was certainly not talking about the money. I believe money is not the only thing and there is a lot other than it. For instance, I know I love writing and no body is paying me anything for it yet almost everyday, I would write something and that too for nothing but the satisfaction is immense. I feel so happy after writing something, I just love it.

I think the reason I was talking so much about money is as follows: For a hobby, I make digital music. I'm trying to go pro with it. Thing is, it takes up so much time (I mean it will take up as much time as you give it, the more the better), but every minute of that time is absolutely necessary. I'm unemployed, but getting a job would eat into the time available I have to make music. Music is my dream, and money is not. But we supposedly need money to "live". How can I spend all my time living my dream when one needs money? Answer: We don't need money. Why fuck work your ass off all your life when you could do what you actually WANT to do. I really hope one day our species abolishes money, it's soul-destroying and counter-productive for our advancement as a civilisation. I'm trying to make this work out, I'll see how it goes. To live a rich full life without money would be absolute bliss.
