OMG...this wonderful, strikingly complicated scene brings back such, shall I say, vibrant memories! Way far back in my college days, I'd go to a certain very shabby West Village bar and then late, very late at night go running amok down to the piers at that very harbor place head all aflame with dark ale fire. Used to see lots of my friends sitting or riding on it there, and I'd bring friends from all around the country down to it....so they'd get a real feel of riding at the mouth of an estuary and get some salty air in their nostrils.
Now about this beautiful photograph...it's very nicely composed with that bright ribbon thing at the top. Also, love the combination of vertical and horizontal layers, which makes for a wonderful rhythm of old wooden columns and windows. And love the orange over the wood and the exotic blue and green rot of the pilings, all balancing each other with the perfect dose of greens. It makes me hear music (once again) when I see a picture like this. Tight, jolty and fierce rhythms in this case. This photograph is very impressive, it just blew my doors off!! Well done.
