Trespassing Vs Transparency: Could you be arrested for visiting your senator?

Barack Obama wrote a memorandum about Transparency and Open Government on January 21, 2009. In this memorandum he re-iterates his campaign pledge to be the most transparent administration. Transparency and open government have many meanings and applications. However, if you and/or a group of your friends decides to visit your representative for a peaceful visit, you may have the police called on you. That's where the trespassing part of this story comes in.

Lexington representatives from MoveOn.org and Carl Gibson from US Uncut asked me to be present with my cameras as they attempted to talk to Mitch McConnell at his office in Lexington, Kentucky. This was to be a peaceful protest with picket signs, chants and songs. Regardless, there was a concern that the police would be called and the members felt that the presence of cameras would work in their favor. I wasn't sure why there would be a concern but I agreed to report on the event.
