1. Where can I see "Wild & Wonderful Whites?" (We've retired to WV, of necessity for the cheap property taxes and prices, so expect comments on its verisimilitude)
2. Add "Gashole"
3.Add Palast's "Vultures' Picnic"

Zeitgeist is one of the worst shit i´ve seen in my life.,it does not only lies about religion, it also lies about astrology, economy, world war 2,vietnam,the creacion of money,9/11, WTC 7,mithology,the pentagon, terrorists, about the banks, and many more lies, is just ironic how a "documentary" that claims to be truth is just a big fat lie.

Hi Heavy_61 I appreciate your comment and thank you for it. I am sorry that I don't speak Spanish as your video looks interesting and i look forward to you putting the subtitles on it. Please let me know when this is complete by re-posting the video on this site.
It is interesting that Jesus Christ is the only historical figure whose existence is disputed. The existence of Christ is evidenced by the same methods of many other historical figures. No one doubts that Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar or Socrates existed yet there are no artifacts that belonged to them that survived to the current day and none of them ever wrote anything. It is purely from historical writings that we know of their existence.
Apart from the New Testament there are other non-biblical historians that evidence Christ's existence. Tacitus a Roman historian 64 AD, Josephus a Jewish historian that lived in the first century, Pliny the Younger a Roman governor who lived around the turn of the 2nd century and Lucian a 2nd century Greek satirist. Also the Baylonian Talmud written between 70 and 200 AD references Jesus.
I believe most contemporary scholars accept that a man named Jesus Christ actually lived in the 1st century. The more important question is: Is Jesus he who says he was? Jesus Christ claimed to be God incarnate. Christians believe this to be true and believe that Jesus was crucified for the sins of all mankind and that He rose from the dead three days later. And those that believe this are granted the gift of eternal life. This of course is believed through faith.
Keep searching for the truth and God bless you.

Hey Marco_Bouchard thanks for your comment. Yes I am a
Christian. Facts are facts though regardless of your beliefs and the information presented as facts in the first part of the film are not facts at all. Therefore if one third of the film is wrong you have to question the remaining two thirds. If you are really serious about the truth check out this web page http://www.alwaysbeready.com/index.php?id=124&option=com_content&task=vi...
I would rather put my faith in Jesus than Peter Joseph, which incidently is not his real name. Cheers. - 6 months ago

samsamsiam:
Hi!! How are you? ... About your comment.
the information in part 1 is not wrong .. I have made my own research, and all I can tell you, is that is not possible to get a common consensus (abou Jesus) because the lack of reliable source of history, the fact is that there is NO contemporary text which can backup the facts of the bibles .. even when the historian Richard Carrier tried to debunck acharya, (acharya replied him with no other response) if you look in his resume (wikipedia), you'll find that he thinks that Jesus probably never existed. another writer (ammong many others) who climes that the story of jesus comes from Osiris (the same as horus, I mean both are involved in the same myth) is LLogari Pujol sadly his books are in spanish, he is an spanish ex theologian who made his own research many many years ago. 1980s
He wrote a book called: Jesus 3000 bc .. I hope you'll find a translated version.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyf_LVQgDAU (I'm goingl downlod it and upload it with subtitles in english .. I hope soon).
so the important thing here is that all the attributes ascribed to Jesus come from further back a very long time. .. and the teachings come from many time ago too
so this is not an invention made by zeitgeist.
What happen is, that we've been told of a history as true since we were born, when you hear from someone saying that that history is not history but a myth, I understand how dificult must be for you to understand.
Be good man.

It's a shame that people see zietgeist as the catalyst for the occupy wall st movement. The movie is completely flawed from the outset. Most of the info in part 1 of the film is attributed to Jordan Maxwell an occultist, conman and fraud.

Also, this might seem a bit opinionated and like I'm paranoid, but the fact that none of the Zeitgeist films were on the official documentary, it only points to conspiracy. Zeitgeist: Addendum and Zeitgeist: Moving Forward have spawned the largest global social movement ever. No other documentary on this list has had so much influence as these films have had. Enough said.

First off I strongly agree zeitgeist: addendum and zeitgeist: moving forward should be #1 and #2. I don't think supersize me should even be on the list as I believe there are many fualse truths in it. I don't see how a movie about a crime family is the "most influential" or even on the top ten list. Where is Blue Gold: water wars, fuel, the colony, and all the ducmunetaries that actually discuss something important?

Zeitgeist (film series) should definitely be first in my informed opinion. 'Future by Design' and 'Transcendent Man' should both definitely be on this list as well. Others to consider that are not on this present list are: 'The Century of The Self', 'Burzynski, the movie', 'Capitalism, a love story', 'The Story of Stuff', 'The End of Poverty', 'Jesus Camp', 'The 11th Hour' and many more.

The last two Zeitgeist films, Z:Addendum & Z:Moving Forward, are, by far, the most important films I've ever seen in my lifetime. These films provide real and practical solutions to all the major problems we see today. Food Inc, The Corporation, Sicko and An Inconvenient Truth are excellent films, but they do not get at the root cause of our problems or provide any viable solutions.
Put one of those two at the top.

Sicko was pretty good about giving evidence that detailed the failures of insurance companies. Moore should've left it at that and not put in the ridiculous parts about going to Cuba.

#10-Capitalism, a love storyI'm a Taiwanese Zeitgeist supporter. I'm here to show you that Zeitgeist Movement isn't just a Western idea but a global one though it derives from capitalism America, regardless of whether it'll succeed or not in the end. Anyway, now it already plants its seed in Asia. We currently already have our own Chinese chapter and forum as a proof:
http://www.youtube.com/user/sydstf?feature=mhee
http://www.zmcn.org/bbs/
http://www.zmcn.org/Though we're just at the beginning stage, I think merely as the species "human", the idea of Zeitgeist Movement should be universally logical, reasonable, and self-evident beyond any artificial boundaries of countries, races, religious belief, the degree of social progress, and political systems or other philosophical. I think it indeed touches the "system", the "root cause" of our social problems without any question, and the movement itself is already a miracle, considering that it only begins with a "documentary" and nothing more.
I can't think of other films having such global influence though indeed many of them also expose many amazing facts. However, after I watch all of other famous documentaries and then watch Zeitgeist series, it gives me a true feeling of finding the "final missing puzzle" toward the root cause of our social paradigm and how our world operates today.
Moreover, you should also check the idea of The Venus Project and Resource-Based Economy in another documentary Future by Design. Though many of you may not totally agree with the ideas of ZM or TVP, but from an emotional, personal perspective, I can see the grand humanitarian compassion for all human beings and future generations on this planet.
Simply form this respect, this documentary, of course along with the overall idea of Resource-Based Economy, are just worth further investigation if you really care about our social problems and the future of human beings when you're seeking a "tangible", "feasible" solution.

What many may not know is that the current monetary system is purely based on a social theory called "game theory". It states that life is like a poker game where everyone is out for themselves, but since everyone is functioning based on their selfish desires and are still dependent on each other, their combined selfish acts will create a stable equilibrium which will allow society to function. Psychologists have put this theory to the test and it has failed and thus been falsified. Not only did the experiment show that people aren't equally selfish and thus equilibrium cannot exist, BUT it also showed that people tend to be selfless than selfish. And thus the whole notion of competition resulting in the best possible outcome is a load of bull. Thus the premise of this monetary paradigm is BS and outdated.
There was a BBC documentary trilogy about this and regarding game theory and how it has impacted the current socioeconomic paradigm. It also goes deep into concepts on sociology and psychology. I can't remember the name though (so if anyone knows PLZ post it). I would also recommend that documentary trilogy to be in the top 5 at least.

Yup, its based on the assumption that everyone is out to get everyone else, that everyone has only their own interests in mind and will act accordingly. Nash (of Beautiful Mind notoriety) theorized that when everyone acts only in their own best interest (he called his test method "f#ck you buddy"), the system would achieve equilibrium. So you see, its the selfless do-gooders that are destroying the economy. Right.

I personally agree with this list as is. I'm glad to see Michael Moore films, and especially glad to see the Zeitgeist series as a set. However, I would like to point out that the first film in the Zeitgeist series is not at all related to the movement by the same name, even though it has the same producer. The first film was created long before, and not associated with the founding of that movement.
This, just to clear a common misconception.
I would have liked to have seen Gasland make this list, or at least into the top fifty. It may not have been the best cinematography, but it was definitely an eye opener, and an important bit of information.

Yea, the first 3 only address the symptoms of the current socioeconomic system. Peter Joseph's zeitgeist series is the only documentary series that I have come across to finally address the elephant in the room: the socioeconomic system, the reality we live in. We the people feel that the current way of life is the only way. That money is inherently needed for society to function, and that all the murder, suffering, crime, greed are all just human nature (as if its within our gene as if we are all made this way). But major scientific research in sociology and psychology and saying otherwise. We are what the environment shapes us to be. Zeitgeist series is the only documentary that points at this obvious fact.

Well, Zeitgeist is definitely my favorite as it deals more and more with the future rather than the past but there are a few documentaries that I thought were much better than some on the list. I don't know who voted on this but your number 1 is not even a film that I would recommend to someone in an acute boredom state. 'Home', 'Oceans', 'Man On Wire', 'F#ck' the documentary (if you look for it on the net write the word as it is) and 'Social Engineering in the 20th Century' (a fantastic film this one that did not get an audience as wide as it deserves).

My parents had talked about the dancing outlaw when I was younger, but I didn't know much about Jesco until two years ago. Then, when i saw the wild and wonderful whites on netflix it was amazing. i make everyone i know watch it and they immediately love it. Growing up in this area all the press is so negative and there certainly are things around here that are negative but to show that we value our family and there's a reason drugs play a large role in people's lives around here. The poverty stricken areas in Appalachia are a birthing place for a viscious cycle of drug abuse, enemployment, violence, and the hopelessness of escaping the stigma your heritage casts on you. One of my favorite lines is when Jesco says "some families just can't get it together I guess" and who can't relate to that? I was glad it showed the cycle this family is in, that the American dream is hardest for regular Americans because the same struggles keep getting passed down and multiplied, and sometimes you have to party your balls off to cope with it.

Wow, I feel old. All the documentaries on this must-see list were made after the year 2000. My top ten were all made before the turn of the century. Here's my list (in alphabetical order):
American Dream (Barbara Kopple's examination of a local meatpacking union on strike in Minnesota; also see Harlan County USA)
An American Family (the first reality TV series - then watch the follow up doc, "A Death in An American Family" and Albert Brooks' movie "Real Life")
The Civil War (Ken Burns' excellent series)
Eyes on the Prize (multi-part series about the Civil Rights Movement)
Hoop Dreams (two Chicago teenagers pursue their dreams to play professional basketball)
Roger & Me (Michael Moore's first effort)
The Thin Blue Line (Errol Morris' investigation of a Texas murder case)
The Times of Harvey Milk (much better than the biopic with Sean Penn)
Titicut Follies (Frederick Wiseman's look at treatment of inmates at a Massachusetts prison mental hospital)
The Up Series (series of films about the British class system, interviews children at age 7, following up with them every 7 years)

This gets the ADL hot under the collar .. WHY? Why is the Holocaust off limits ? What dirty secrets are the Zionists so eager to keep "Secret?" .. I believe in free and open discussion on all subjects and NOTHING should be off limits .. For one; researching the Holocaust does NOT equate to hate speech !

some US centric docs that should be on the list:
Woodstock...one of the first real modern documentary films
Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam - why you shouldnt fight stupid unwinnable wars in the words of the men and women who get sent to them
Trouble in Amish Paradise - insightful documentary on what happens when you break away from theocratic authority
Scientology And Me - BBC expose on the cult of Scientology
Jonestown: The Life and Death of Peoples Temple - another seminal point in your history....more on the danger of theocratic cults
Try, just tr people, to lift your heads up out of that bargain bucket of KFC, have memories longer than a goldfish, and watch something a bit more challenging. Fecking Zietgeist.....get real!

The list, unsurprisingly, is totally US centric.
You could have tried to include some with an international aspect -
S-21: The Khmer Rouge Killing Machine, a 2003 documentary film by Rithy Panh is utterly compelling viewing - an insight into the running of a modern death camp made by one of its few survivors.
Year Zero - the original documentary that broke the story of the downfall of Cambodia made by John Pilger.
The Death of Yugoslavia - A BBC series documentary that explained the mess that resulted from the breakup of Yugoslavia and the resulting Balkans wars
But of course.....why run serious stuff when we can watch the clownshoes paranoid delusionary freakshow that is Zeitgeist? Utter crap from scene 1 to the closing credits.
All your poll shows, Spurlock and Moore aside, is how dumbed down and insular the US polling audience has become. Any Top 10 including Zeitgeist isnt worth wiping my ass on.

So let me get it right...
You don't like the list among other reasons but also because, and please let me quote you: "Any Top 10 including Zeitgeist isnt worth wiping my ass on."Should I remember that only phrases behind you said: "You could have tried to include some with an international aspect -"
What's more "international" than a planetary approach to solve society's mess!!?We all know here that money it's behind curtains on every freaking war there's on the planet... And that's the one topic that seems to be "important" for you...
Well Zeitgeist series actually touches the roots for ALL WARS... when it attacks the fiat intent of ruling by "CAPITALIST WEALTH" that is the master mind of every "LIBERTARIAN WAR".
I say let's cut the money flow to those "INDUSTRIES" and let's get on with our lives...
The Zeitgeist Movement might help doing that you know!?
Why? Because we're more than 500.000 activists that are registered and eager to change the status quo.
Let alone the FACT that there are also MILLIONS that have seen those movies and started to wake up from this invention we let ourselves fall into. But it's not about us, it's what's important to show to the world... according to you.
And the way America sees into itself, for you it's NOT IMPORTANT...When you start to pounder over the reality that AMERICA uses 40% of finite resources
of the planet, pollutes even more, considers to be poor when they need to move out:
The X-BOX, the A/C, The LAPTOP & PC's, SATELLITE/CABLE HD 52" TV SET...
into their SUV's & drive the other car to a new "rented or whatever" house/department.
Definitely there's a standards issue revolving the fact that most AMERICANS can't relate to their faults to themselves and the planet. It's really commendable that people like Moore and Furlock, Americans "wannabe Canadians" XD lol, are doing this kind of initiatives or documentaries.
They're waking the people that can actually CHANGE the amount of PAIN they inflict unknowingly to the world. The vast majority of the American people doesn't realise what's REALLY going on at their country, let alone Cambodia.
Zeitgeist made a real change since, Oh, surprise!, was made by the cliché of Americanism... a home boy, musician from BROOKLYN, NY. Peter Joseph.
You should try to find how many Americans, indeed, that guy has influence ever since the first movie.
Should I mention the millions around the world that are talking about those films and the intentions that the INTERNATIONAL MOVEMENT that it has created will mean for ALL OF US as a SOCIETY!?I'm sure we can manage to send you several copies of the series so you can "WIPE YOUR ASS"... it should be difficult to open your eyes in such and environment...

Documentaries are for personal views...you determine what you take out of it..some of you should stop taking yourselves so seriously...chill-lax....explore your world with an open mind...or you are missing out...seriously

sorry sdunlap1986 I responded to a snide remark accordingly..
I saw what was voted as the top ten and i was disappointed as there are many documentaries which are more note worthy than the ones listed .. Fahrenheit 911 for instance ,, a lot more information has been provided since and Michael Moore does not attempt to implicate anyone. Where did he mention the MOSSAD connection ? So many facts are missing .. The best documentaries as you know will "NEVER" be shown on TV Why? Because they are too close to the truth that's why ! I am tired of the Zionists control of the media suppressing anything that is remotely honest !

Your top 10 list is too narrow-minded. These titles everyone already knows, but I wouldn't choose any of them.
Off top of my head, Genius Within, Everest IMAX (Breshears), The Human Experience, The Endurance, Up series, Waiting for Superman, The Road to 9/11, Lord Save Us From Your Followers, Grey Gardens, Endless Summer, almost anything by Warren Miller, Let the Church Say Amen, Grappelli: A Life in the Jazz Century, Walking the Bible, etc., are all fantastic, and I haven't even tried to think of foreign documentaries.

Beside number 1, which is wonderful, the other ones are one sided, liberal agenda documentaries. Each one of these have a plethora of caveats which place them into a mild form of propaganda.
I see myself tilting more liberal in general but these documentaries drive people who don't ever do their research and rhetoric removal to become ignorant zealots of a Film Makers Agenda. Too much dramacide in these bad boys/girls (no sexism)
But... I'm sure I'm preaching to the wrong choir. Its the equivalent of the asking the Tea Party to have a civil convo with Obama. (My piece of dramacide)
Sorry for the hate,
Bonnie

Ludicrous diversion .. A documentary that proves London 7/7 was an inside job .. Yugoslavia the avoidable war.. war crimes committed by NATO and the KLA that were white washed over .. USS Liberty Dead in the Water .. Israel attacked a US spy ship to drag the US into a war against Egypt.
I'm sorry but these are real documentaries ..

Cant understand why Woodstock isnt in the top ten. & no-offense but Wild Wonderful whites shouldnt be in anyones top 10. Top 10 greats should be more than interesting- they should inform & alter the viewers. Food inc, Inconvient Truth, Supersize me, & Woodstock all end changing the world view of the viewer. I think. Just my lowly opinion. :)

For Current i do think this list is pretty good not too extreme and not too basic. number 2 3 4 and 6 are worth watching and good ones for sure. number 10 is bs. number 7 while pretty lame changed the way the food markets do business and has had a bigger impact then most of the flicks listed. i think many people would list Zeitgest as one of the most eye opening movies they have ever seen.. once you see that your eyes start to open and you begin to see other things.
i am happy current is starting this countdown show and the top 10 listed above are worth being there it will be cool to see why thought too.
a huge A+ on the idea and supporting these types of movies so i am very proud of current on this! this makes me trust it more.
