Tech Report: World of Warcraft

On the eve of the game's four year anniversary, and the release of its newest expansion pack, Wrath of the Lich King, Ben takes a look inside the world of the World of Warcraft.

The infoMania Tech Report is a weekly segment where technology guru Ben Hoffman takes a look at the newest tech products, gadgets and video games. It has been called “the funniest tech show on the web (No source for that quote is available at this time. In fact, there's a good chance it was made up.)

infoMania is a half-hour satirical news show that airs on Current TV. The show puts a comedic spin on the 24-hour chaos and information overload brought about by the constant bombardment of the media. Hosted by Conor Knighton and co-starring Brett Erlich, Sarah Haskins, Ben Hoffman, and Sergio Cilli, the show airs on Thursdays at 10 pm Eastern and Pacific Times and can be found online at current.com/infomania.     • This would be funnier if it wasn't so sad... Speaking as a girl who tried to date a boy obsessed with WoW, I personally hate MMORPG's and everything they stand for! It's no fun being with someone who gets more joy out of a Computer Game than their real life girlfriend. Seriously WoW guys, what the hell is wrong with all of you???

      That's definitely a problem with that guy -- not with all guys that play WoW. It's just frustrating that so many people have that stereotype just because SOME guys are like that....and by the way, there have always been guys like that, with many videogames. The only reason there are might be a significant greater number of guys like that in the WoW community is because the WoW community is so much greater than the community of most other videogames.

    • It's all about self-control. I'm a girl that plays WOW (and has for almost a year now) and I am still passing my college courses with A's and B's and I still work part time. Cool video though.

    • Only goes to show that WoW loves you no matter what you @$%^&* yell at it, no matter how many times you make your character dance naked on tables for tips (looks guilty), or get your group's ass kicked when you get your first hunter pet and decide to play in a group.

      WoW even loves you when you get your whole raid wiped by cased an AOE DOT when you "thought" it was a "good idea"... (laughs, so many do this, and it amazes me every time..)
      Actually, WoW will love you... but your online guild mates might not if you don't have really a good reason... (oh man my pitbull/chiwawa mix attacked my keyboard right at the moment we were attacking! I don't know WTF happened, really!)

      And WoW loves pumpkins, pale skinny guys, big buff Aussies, normal Joes, girls with pretty voices, women that sound like they have smoked 40 cigarettes since they were 10 and are now 60, and everyone in between AS LONG AS YOU HAVE ONE DESIRE.... THE DESIRE TO KICK ASS.

      Live on WoW... Because Kicking ass is Fun.

      Every guy gamers dream... a chick that likes to play WoW and doesn't bitch when he plays for 48 hours straight! Do you know how many guys on WoW that have said "will you marry me?".. rofl. It's so funny. All they know about me is how I play the game. That's it.

      I guess I'll be brave and upload a pic so you know I'm not THE pumpkin dude, who is now famous.. (Most chicks on WoW are guys you know, if you don't know that, then NOW you know).
      I really don't wanna do this. But.. Shit. Gotta prove I am not him, wish I could upload a pic of my toon instead!.. dammit. (pouts) Crap can't find the pic I wanted. Here's the only one I could find... eerg.

      Oh I did beta this, but I never, ever battered my computer, threw a monitor or yelled at it. I do kick some ass. But sometimes the MoBs just outnumber me, then you just get to a good area and ... so what, you die. Big deal. It doesn't happen often.

      And his mom called to say OMG, I gave birth to a pumpkin, WTF? Stop playing a wimpy caster and play something that works your muscles like a warrior, a Paladin or a Death Knight, those are popular now!

    • One of my friends is hopelessly addicted to WOW bad enough, that I have not heard or seen him in a couple of months. He is alive, I know that, but its always "I need to reach the next area", "got to finish this quest", and the like. I've known several people who havelost jobs because of this. I just don't get it, and I would call myself an avid gamer.

    • i see does "passionate" reactions all the time in my brothers,i swear to god the neighbors are going to call the police the next time they play, they seem surprised when i say hi in the elevator its like they would except me to cry and ask for help, or at least have a couple of bruises on me.
