Target Women is a recurring segment on Current TV's weekly television show, infoMania. In each episode of Target Women, Sarah Haskins takes a look at the often-ridiculous way the media reaches out to women.
infoMania is a half-hour satirical news show that airs on Current TV. The show puts a comedic spin on the 24-hour chaos and information overload brought about by the constant bombardment of the media. Hosted by Conor Knighton and co-starring Brett Erlich, Sarah Haskins, Ben Hoffman, and Sergio Cilli, the show airs on Thursdays at 10 pm Eastern and Pacific Times and can be found online at http://current.com/infomania/ or on Current TV. my boyfriend and I agreed that we've NEVER seen a commercial with a guy doing laundry (unless its a guy TRYING to do laundry and does such a bad job that the woman comes in and has to fix everything). my boyfriend and I laughed so much at this. haha "when you're high on laundry..." haha. they really do make the girls look like they are on drugs. maybe its the chemicals from the detergents? and you know what? my boyfriend is the one who does all the laundry, he is so much better at it and even at picking out the products and well the whole thing that me, a girl. haha! lol. stupid sexist commercials...and you know what even though he is a guy who kind of enjoys doing laundry he definitely does not get even 2% of all the supposed benefits you get from doing laundry and buying laundry-related products that the commercials imply one will get. well of course not...because he's not a lady? haha just kidding of course its because they are stupid commercials that try to buy people into fantasy worlds but for real, who is like "OH MY GOD LAUNDRY IS MY FAVORITE THING I LOVE IT MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE!" haha. you are so funny this was great, we enjoyed. thanks from alysia and george. laundry, "the adderal of chores" lol haha!

Washing and drying is okay . Folding and putting it away ... not so glamourous ?

It's not a glamorous feeling it's just a relief that you got something done for the day. Although I probably wont be saying that if I was born in the 1920's. lol

I have a secret. I actually like washing clothes.
I love the smell of detergent. I love the warmth of clothes when you just take it out of the dryer after it's done. I like sorting the pile into colors and whites. And I like it when the machine washes the clothes specially if it's the washing machines faces forward so Ican see the water wooshing inside. It's slightly entertaining. And sort of relaxing.
It's walking to my laundromat that's horrible and the folding, oh god the folding. :(
But once you pass that it feels good having clean clothes in your closets and drawers. :D

lol haha! i always thought that was so ridiculous, the nice clothes and especially yes the 4-5 inch (sometimes it looks like maybe 6 inch) stilletto heels and other completely um non-laundry-doing-friendly shoes... if you were to be doing all those things and working that hard as they show people working in laundry commercials and wearing those shoes, you would fall multiple times and end up probably breaking a bone...lol. o the things advertisers do to make mundane boring chores seem fun exciting sexy and glamorous. then again there are commercials where women are dancing while doing laundry so i guess it is then the shoes come in handy? haha. we see through you, advertisers, and call bull sh*t! haha. sarah is great, eh?

20 years ago, I accidentally put my wife's sweater in the wash and in came out super petite (suitable for a poodle, in fact).
Ever since, she hasn't really trusted me to do anything more than fluff towels.

I don’t enjoy doing laundry. I think it has something to do with will power.

K: two ads you need to look at. the Kingsford coal summer ad which is funny but it's end message is: these are so easy a woman could light these coals. (lol, like women haven't been cooking for thousands of years.)
Also, the new summer Jack in the Box (or whatever you're eating) commercial features a "crazy" woman who is "tamed" by a mango smoothie. lol what are these people thinking?

good points yes those damn kingsford coal summer ads! i remember those, haven't seen them in awhile but yes the message is so stupid and its like...HELLO women have been cooking for 1,000+ years, and have throughout the ages through these modern times done a lot more cooking than men have (although the hilarious thing is i HATE cooking and my boyfriend LOVES it and he is the cook of the house lol). lol. my boyfriend thought those were awful, sexist, and completely ridiculous himself. o god and yes i've always been frustrated (to say the least) by the jack in the box commercials. take care sister!

Hmmmm. Since I keep a separate hamper for my dirty clothes, towels, etc, I do my own laundry. But I really don't think people with modern washers and dryers DO much of anything with laundry anymore. I mean a load of laundry involves what...a 3-5 minute time commitment? Load, transfer, unload. The machines do 95% of the work.

Men don't know how to do laundry. They don't have ovaries. You need ovaries to do laundry.
Which is why we all feel bad for old Aunt Jezebel after she underwent her historectomy when she got ovarian cancer.
She hasn't been able to do laundry for months.

Thank you Sarah!!! It's amazing how commercials try to tell us that awful and taxing chores that are pushed almost entirely onto women are actually fun and luxurious. Thanks for calling their bluff!!
