ok this was funny however i think the callers should get a fine or something, you can't have people calling 911 for silly things like that...think before you call and consider the real people that need to use this service/life line

The majority of the time they do get fines, and as was the case with the one woman, sometimes even arrested. It is a felony to misuse 911.

lol, Then there is the opposite: the dispatcher that has No business being an emergency operator.
I called 911 for a medical emergency for a family member and the female dispatcher said: "Well you know, 911 calls are now routed through the CHP (California Highway Patrol) office here so..."
I was like: Well, ok, what am I supposed to do, can you please transfer me to the EMTs?
911: "Oh, yeah this is THE RIGHT NUMBER, but just so you know - the calls are being routed through our office then we transfer it to the medical people..."
Etc... I called the next day to explain that while I appreciated her explanation of call routing procedure, this may not be important information if you are simply supposed to transfer the call. Thank goodness I wasn't panicked, because wtf?! - 2 years ago
