    • The phrase I wish to discuss today is "OCCUM'S RAZOR". Forgive me if my spelling is incorrect, these comment sections should have a spell check feature, but that's a subject for another time. OCCUM'S RAZOR means that "the simplest solution is usually the best". So here are some simple solutions to America's problems as I see it today. First, in business it's written that "you've got to spend money to make money". Stopping government spending right now is the real job killer every Fox talking head is bellowing about. Building roads, fixing our infrastructure like our crumbling bridges and decaying school buildings, laying new pipelines, funding renewable energy start ups, putting more regulators and public advocate attorneys in the field, hiring more IRS agents to find and punish tax cheats, reforming our penal systems, upgrading our postal service, ending tax breaks for companies that out source American jobs overseas and taxing them for doing so, stopping the Bush tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires, plugging loopholes in this unnecessarily complex tax code structure special interests have bought our elected officials to pass and replace it with a simple, one page, income and corporate tax filing form. Line one, I made this, line two, this is the tax percentage every American equally pays, line three, subtract line two from line one and on line four, this is the tax I owe. Enclosed is my check. Allow just a few deductions. Home mortgage interest and defer taxes on education expenses as just two examples of a simplified, flat tax proposal. Make universal health care a right, not a privilage. MEDICARE for everyone. Everyone able to pay, pays in to the Medicare fund till they reach whatever retirement age is determined. Then it's free, like it is now, or should be. Those NOT able to pay are eligable for Medicaide. Free clinics should be exstablished in every city, every state, everywhere the
American flag flies. And one pet peeve of mine, offered for consideration..IF YOU DON'T NEED IT, DON'T TAKE IT. Some of us don't need to take any social security checks. It was originally set up as a "safety net". Some of us don't need it, but can rest assured that if and when they ever did need it, it would be there for them. WE need "tort reform". No where else in the civilized world is our system the norm. Everywhere else in the world, if I sue you and you win, I have to pay your legal fees. That would end hundred of thousands of frivilous law suits here in America. It in NO way affects our right to sue for injury, grievance or malpractice. We just better be sure we have a case before starting. OCCUM"S razor, simple solutons. I've got more to offer but no more time to write. If you're a Keith Olbermann fan like I am, these points are nothing new. He's our champion and someday, he may address some of my rants on his show. Thanks Keith. You're my hero.

    • Everytime I hear some person blame Pres. Obama for the deficent or national debt I wonder why the news media has not begun to educate these misinformed souls about basic civics and the role of each branch of the government, et al. Remind them that the President DOES NOT hold the purse strings, does not pass laws or levy taxes on anyone. He can suggest, he can express his desires, but if not one republican house member or senator will follow his lead, he's powerless. President Bush (W) took for himself, dictatorial powers, usuped the US constitution he swore to protect and defend, wrecked the economy, raped the social security and highway funds and leaving us twelve trillion in debt, with a banking system on the brink of collapse, a trillion dollar "bailout" of corrupt wall street speculators, left us figthing two unfunded and unwinnable wars, all heaped in the lap of Pres. Obama to fix or fail trying. Then the republican mantras began. WE want him to fail, let the people suffer and put the blame on him....madness. Are the American people so undereducated, so self absorbed that they don't care what is happening? The rich are getting richer, the middle class is being dismantled, the poor are being blamed for their poverty and for who's benefit. The richest few versus the silent majority who by the day grow more frighetened, desperate and numb? Why doesn't Obama call them out for their hypocracy? Why don't those anti social right wingers feel any pity, any shame or take responsibility for their actions and in-actions. Who will force them to answer these questions...Keith Olbermann.

    • So, this is Michelle, and I just about flipped out when I saw this on the show. I would like to say something in my own defense though. This was taken off of twitter, and the entire "tweet" was:

infoMania! Would definitely do everyone on that show. Well, maybe not Ben. But I'd totally sit down and smoke a blunt with him.

Which, in many ways, could be even better! I still love you Ben, and even though you made me out to be a horrible person on television, I will still be a lifelong infoMania fan, and even more importantly, a lifelong Ben Hoffman fan.

      :-)

    • Since I just left a snarky comment about your editorial I thought it would be a good idea to add, here, that I would totally sleep with you. In a gay way. For reals.
