    • I dont like the words "mandate" or "czar" !
I want to spend my money on better food and water so my family is less likely to get sick. i want to spend my money moving my family away from cities smog .I want to spend my money moving my family as far away from the appalachian mountians as i can. Because the governments clean coal is killing people there. I do not want to give the government the opportunity to mandate that ;"because i have depression". that they have a right to put me on medication (that by the way they want to make)

this country is over-medicated to begin with. we eat bad food that monsanto is making worse. we are being lied to by our elected officicals...I am sorry for the people who dont see the big picture.

if the government wanted to help our health they would make cigs and booze illegal.

if the government wanted to help our health they would make fda approved drugs that kill
      200,000 people a year illegal

they put the doctors in jail but they never go after the drug manufacturers.all those folks who died from oxyconton went home with a big bottle full of them. thats not the doctors fault...big pharma made that poison !!! why not hold them responsibe? well lets see , who really runs the government.it shure as hell is not the people>

your government is owned by pharmaceutical oil tobacco insurance fda coal ect.................. do you really think they have your best interest in mind.?

question everything now, while we still can !

    • Many people don't realize that there are legitimate objections to the health care bill. I usually harp on the mandate and tax penalty. That's an affront to the constitution. If I don't want health care, I should have that right to choose, just like I should have the right to choose to smoke a joint if I want to. I don't need a babysitter, in other words.

I know this all too well being a resident of Massachusetts. I own my own garage/shop and I make a decent living. My salary last year was $45K, yet my mortgage rates have gone up and I had to pay for my son's tuition so he doesn't have to a mechanic like his old man. In the end I couldn't afford to purchase health care for myself.

So, because I couldn't afford it, I was penalized by Massachusetts for $1,000! Ouch. I'm still trying to get together the money to pay it down. It's just a bad idea. You shouldn't be penalized if you're already hard up as it is. That just makes a bad situation worse. I have been considering moving to another state without such oppressive policies, but I can't raise enough money to move. I'm stuck, and if this health care bill passes, I'm going to be fined twice next year because I still cannot afford an insurance plan -- once from Mass, and once from the Fed. I won't have anywhere to escape if it's a federal mandate. It's just not right.

      That's my two cents.

This is very misleading as we do not have a police or fire department at our federal level, and it would be a horrible idea to do so for the same reasons it would be a horrible idea to have health care run at the federal level (loss of representation). Health care reform belongs at the local or state level -- just like the police and fire are handled.

Furthermore, the Post Office is in our Constitution, and the Coast Guard is an arm of the military.

Oh and that bit at the end is also misleading -- you can buy fire insurance to protect your home and it is your responsibility to do so -- you don't get it for free. If you're house burns down and you were not prepared, it's your fault and you're not given another one, nor should you expect it.

That being said, I'm not against health care reform. We need it to regulate these greed-driven businesses. I ask that we handle it appropriately however --- bring it to the states like Massachusetts did.

Indeed indeed. Although, I personally enjoy getting my information in cartoon form. If funding programs was simply putting dollars in a big cereal bowl next to vacuums, we wouldn't be having the same debates. It would become an argument about who gets to suck the most!

My question to you GodsnC: What is more important for our tax dollars to pay for than Health Care? You obviously don't want restrictions on your freedoms, though getting sick trumps most everybody's 'freedom' before they die at least once. I like to think that we can (as a Democratic nation) tell the government to look out for everybody, not just those that are on certain plans or policies. I am admittedly not an expert though seeing other nations' universal programs and their data, we just come out looking like big, sick, dumb Americans on this issue.
And we're scared of the flu. Have you had yer shots?
