    • I'm not so down with the techno-fads. However the Ipad is pretty cool for casual computer users who like myself, got rid of my desktop because I was tired of looking at it. and Also wants to lose his laptop + external monitor.

I work in I.T. and honestly when I get home I don't do anything more than check my email. So the Ipad is perfect for http://i2.crtcdn.net/images/spacer.gifsomeone like myself that just wants to check his facebook, youtube, and email.

However, I am a senior sys admin and no fool. I'll give the ipad 1 year + before I buy it. NEVER BUY 1st GEN technology.

Yeah, that or they could really benefit from an iPad. People that don't want to know anything about how computers work but still want to check email, browse the web, read ebooks and magazines, etc will love the iPad. It's so easy to use, that my 23 month old could operate it. He can launch his apps on my iPod without blinking. He can also delete apps without blinking too, but that's another issue. :) My point is, anyone of a number of iPad features taken alone would make this a useful device for the young, elderly and just about everyone in between.

Web browsing. Yeah, no Flash, but touch screen!
      Video.
      Gaming.
      Books.
Plus, it's an iPod too, so you have your music at your finger tips.

The thing wrong with the iPad is its price. Even without factoring in the apps (think lots of $$$) the iPad is expensive. Yeah, it may actually be a lot of bang for the buck, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a lot of bucks. Also, no built in camera, WTF?

If money isn't an issue for you, pick up one or two of these and send one to your friend that swears they don't need to use computers and that this technology thing is overrated. They'll be Tweeting you by the end of the week.

Personally, I'll have to wait for less lean times and for the price to drop before I jump on board. Is the iPad going to be a "fad?" Sure, but just like the iPhone and the iPod, they will also be revolutionary.
