Playboy Moms: Modern Lady

Erin_Gibson
What should you get your mother this Mother's Day? Hint: not a card. In the premiere of "Modern Lady," Erin Gibson discovers that hot reality moms like Kelly Bensimon of "Real Housewives of New York" and Chris Kardashian, mother of Kim Kardashian, from "Keeping Up With The Kardashians," all really want to be in "Playboy." So ditch the card and get your mom a topless photo shoot!

In each episode of Modern Lady, Erin Gibson explores the often-conflicting ways in which today's media tells women to work, love, and be ladies.

    • Wow Marfawkah02 you are pretty harsh. are you a dude and just don't get that she is REALLY funny? maybe you have to be a girl to appreciate just how funny she is. I actually like her better than Sarah...but regardless...give her a chance.

    • Of course I loved Sarah Haskins, but I think this is awesome! Erin does a great job. You can't expect her to be just like Sarah. I think this segment successfully mocks sexist expectations about modern mothers. I'm sure these will only get better!

no one is expecting her to be like sarah as much as im expecting you to be just another suck up to someone on tv. i dont think shes funny and i wasnt anticipating anything when i 1st saw her. my personal opinion, many people use the "dry wit" formula in comedy and sarah haskins used it well. this girl, erin, does nothing for me not because shes not sarah but because shes not funny.

I'm not trying to suck up to someone. I liked her, but I'm not saying she was perfect or as good as Sarah. I just hope in the future she puts more emphasis on mocking advertising and societal expectations and not individual women.

    • I miss Sarah, but we'll see how Erin develops.
Can't get with dissing one woman in order to support the other, like I've been seeing in this thread.

Have you guys been paying attention to the Target Women segments?

    • It's great to finally have a lady segment on the show again, although I am really, really going the miss the "Underpants!" line of the Target: Women opening.

I like Erin so far. She has a more pessimistic tone to her than Sarah did, which I can relate to. Yes, she's different from the Sarah we've all grown to love, but in time, I'm sure we'll all feel the same about Erin. It's tough, because this is a "lady" segment, and I'm sure a lot of people expect it to be exactly like Target: Women, because Modern Lady is replacing Target: Women. But it can't be, really. And I'm really looking forward to seeing Erin's commentary style really come out in Modern Lady.

    • wow, you are tough. I liked it and I like her. Anyone new needs to be cut a little slack especially when filling one's shoes who was really adored. I think she will get better but i thought she was good. i don't get the copyright infringement comment?

    • not funny, very let down & pretty annoying. this doesnt seem like a passing of the golden tampon but a 3rd rate rip off, not being sued for copyright infringement as of yet. you'll notice the drop in ratings when the segment comes on later this week

    • I thought she was trying a little too hard to be as funny as Sarah... but she definitely looks like she has potential! she just needs a few eps to build on her own style. Just remember how Ellen on rotten tomatoes was at first-- she was trying a little too hard to be as funny as brett. but after a few episodes she definitely started bringin the A-game!

      Congrats Erin!

    • Typical. This fluff is on TV while important stories get ignored. How very disappointing Current has become. I thought this station was supposed to inform youth and give us news you don't see on mainstream media. This doesn't quite fill the bill.

    • Ah hell. They got a cuter "gurl". They decide to use less "make-up" time on the "hotter" body,.....to pitch her as "normal gurl- girl next door" and make her accessible, appealing...and only .................s u b l i m i n a b l y...................an ideal.
Sarah was just,...........really,.........a little Toooooooooooo real.

"And THATS the way it is......." TV marches on.

    • Ok, I was ready to be disappointed because Sarah Haskins has been replaced... but Erin Gibson is pretty damn funny and has a definite voice. (I was afraid she was going to be like the Rotten Tomatoes girl with no genuine sense of humor.) Anyway - I'm impressed. (Also, I do agree with everything that "stampneeds" said.)

    • nice work! :)

so word on the web is that sarah haskins has some bad-ass new projects that she's working on, do yourself a google search :) i'm glad we've got a lady-themed show in the mix again -- it's a voice we seriously need. i enjoyed erin's intro and i'm sure she will develop her own style with the show. she's got a tough act to follow!

one concern -- i just hope that all "lady" themes don't look like "potential porn" clips. there's been a serious boob theme on infomania lately. now, don't get me wrong, i have nothing against boobs....but i'd hate to see infomania use the aspects of media culture they critique in order to get more viewers.

    • I'm surprised the format wasn't changed any more than just re-titling the segment. I think it's okay to show short clips without a silly comment on each one Erin - "so thoughtful!" - stop it!

I'll give you a few more weeks to get the hang of this, but so far I'm not hopeful.

    • I think I'm going to like this new segment, but I'm not sure my Mum would even want to pose for an adult magazine... (and the UK celebrate Mothers Day on the forth Sunday of Lent, usually in March)

    • Wait a minute! YOU'RE not Sarah Haskins! This is just like when the 1969 season of "Bewitched" started, and there was a different Darrin.

    • It's not like it hasn't happened already since Kathy Shower was Playboy's Playmate of the Month for May 1985 and Playmate of the Year for 1986.

She Has two daughters, Mindy and Melonie and was the last Playmate to be born before the first Playboy issue was published in December 1953.

So it's not like they have their hopes up for nothing
