Will you see the film a) begrudgingly, b) enthusiastically, or c) NO F***ING WAY? I want to know if I'm alone!

I'm somewhere inbetween enthusiastic and begrudgingly seeing it. I think the movie is going to suck and I'm reading reviews that it's offensive to Middle Eastern people and to gay people. That... I really don't take issue with admittedly. My issue lies with 1) hearing Samantha go on about her hot flashes again 2) Charlotte is going to do that excited scream she does and I can't deal with that in a loud theater 3) Carrie married her dream man... seriously what's is her problem now?
Why would I see it if it seems like I'm not going to enjoy it?
I have invested far too much time into this. I've seen every episode of the show ten times over, I sat through the first movie and as much as it pains me I really do need to know what happens with Carrie and Big. The trailer seems to elude to Carrie cheating on Big with Aiden and I have to know how that turns out. I predict the movie will end with her being the New York single gal again... but I'm always wrong about these things.
Anywho... that's my schpiel. - 1 year ago

I personally loved the film, I have always been a fan of the series, I loved the first film and this sequel exceeded my expectations. The women portrayed in the film are strong and independent women and those of you who disagree are taking yourselves much too seriously. Miranda is a successful lawyer, Carrie is a best selling writer, Samantha is a publicist, and Charlotte is a mother of 2 (I'm sure all you mothers out there would agree that this is much respected job as well). These women are very hard workers and if they choose to reward themselves with a little bit of luxury, who are you all to judge? I realize that this is just a movie and parts of it aren't realistic, however I think that these 4 women have been a good representation of the 21st century woman. What is so wrong with abandoning tradition, living your life on you own terms, and showing society that you're a powerful woman to be reckoned with?
Anyway, I just got cast for an idie film with a similar premise to Sex and the City except it's geared towards a younger audience (hopefully they will be more perceptive to the film then you negative nancies out there). This is my first ever full length film and it's kind of random but I was actually casted online after I submit my audition video to I Made A Movie. I'm a little nervous but I just was hoping for a little feedback from everyone so check me out at the website!..just google "i made a movie" and you should be able to find it pretty easily.

...well, you can think whatever you like, it's your prerogative. The movie is not meant to be taken seriously, lighten up...and I have a lot of Gay friends who just adored this movie...and while I'm at it, some of the content of the actual series hits upon a myriad of issues that women have to face...

Some cannot possibly enjoy a movie that facilitates decadence, ignorance, and consumerism. There are great comedies out there that viewers can relate to and have fun watching. The point Bryan is making, I think, is that it is a BAD movie. It starts as a bad idea and ends as a movie badly made. The series was good until it got popular and became a parade show to advertise designer and couture clothing/culture. The characters no longer resemble real women who have to work for a living (and no, not all of us have rich friends or celebrities to get perks like a free 50-grand-worth trip to another city).
The movie is shallow, and that's that. You can watch it for the clothes and the glitter, fine. But if someone actually Enjoys the Message of the movie (D.I.C in the first sentence), then that person needs a reality check.

I instantly think a bit less of anyone who actually wants to go see this movie because they like the idea of it. These are four women without any form of critical thinking or cultural awareness flying off to a fancy decadent resort doing the only thing they can do: consume. From ridiculously expensive (that real women can never afford, or even their real selves) clothes, shoes, real estates, men, etc. They consume and consume.
Their problems are trivial, and the attention and hysteria they give to those problems are beyond imaginable. They don't give a crap about politics, literature, arts, education, etc. And these are the figures that have influenced a whole generation of women? I feel sorry for the Sarah Haskins's generation, me included, who will have to clean up their messes and redeem these unflattering perceptions towards women.
BTW, this movie is f*cking offensive to both straights and gays. These women wear their gay friends like their handbags, and their gay friends are...well I have NOT known someone THAT sweet in my entire life, including my gay friends.

Seriously though. Who vacations in Abu Dhabi? Not even Dubai? At first I thought that the sheikh of A.D. may have paid the production company to set it there, but then the U.A.E. wouldn't let them film there? Strange.
I'll probably see it, begrudgingly.

I loved the TV series, and I liked the first movie, but the simple fact that they decided to set this movie in the UAE is bizarre.
How many women are going to see this film with theirfriends and think, "Hey girls! Let's go on a vacation together in Abu Dabi!" Then they all come off the plane in their fuckme pumps and pushup bras only to end up right in prison, with their token gay male friend on death row.
The producers did an incredible disservice to the progressive community by making a movie that glamorizes and encourages tourism to such a bigoted nation.
They could not even shoot there- they shot it all in Morocco, so why the hell not just change the script so it says they vacationed in Morocco? They could do Cassablanca jokes and Road to Morocco jokes.

I used to be curious about them too, and now I just can't stand them...
Actually, I loath them as characters. Thank goodness I never bothered to watch the 1st movie, and will not watch the second.
Although I suppose if your really into to watching horrible people do idiotic things, then I'd say it is a good bet this is the movie for you.

If they could have somehow woven in a sequel to 'flight of the navigator' and 'Mannequin' I'd be so in!! But, alas, no deal.. I suppose I'll have to go see the documentary about the making of 'Troll 2'.

I look forward to hearing exactly what you had to say about the it post movie haha I was curious to know if they could actually pull a successful sequal off just based on flashy outfits and the strong grasp women in their 40's deathly hold onto the idea of what SITC is to them haha Anyways dude you crack me up, keep up the wicked work and ill keep laughin.

Michael Patrick King is awesome but he really flopped it big time according to Roger Ebert especially for the ridiculous Abu Dabi scenes you mentioned... what did he expect, it just sounds crazy to say it. Maybe he thought the contrast would be funny (in a good). He said on the Daily Show that he only meant to show them to be more successful.
So c), but a) on DVD because we all can't help ourselves.
