Rotten Tomatoes on Infomania

Brett_Erlich
Brett and Ellen join Conor to discuss Katherine Heigl's new movie "Life as We Know It" and Disney's "Secretariat." Brett brings along his exclusive interview with one of the stars of "Secretariat." Spoiler alert: the two had a good time horsing around.

infoMania is a half-hour satirical news show that airs on Current TV. The show puts a comedic spin on the 24-hour chaos and information overload brought about by the constant bombardment of the media. Hosted by Conor Knighton and co-starring Brett Erlich, Erin Gibson, Ben Hoffman, Bryan Safi and Sergio Cilli, the show airs on Thursdays at 11/10c on Current TV.

    • I tried to watch a couple of the new segments and it's like having a guy you've got the hots for finally stick his hand in your bra while giving you the kiss smack down but then his phone rings and he answers it and has a two hour conversation while you sit there and wait. SO INCREDIBLY UNSATISFYING!!!

    • more evidence that the Current TV went from mediocre to bad to mindless dumbassery. brett and ellen, please leave this lame excuse for a TV network and go internet-only... you can probably still work out a streaming deal on the rottentomatoes site and work with NBC to get it back on hulu. hell, you'd be better off to just leave and go off on your own without the RT name at this point! i quit the current website before, now i'm just going to forget this poorly run station exists.

    • Are you guys serious!? Please tell the Rotten Tomatoes audience the "why" behind what is going on here...maybe during your next "segment". Brett? Ellen? WTF? Clue us in please. Somebody? Hello?

Brett and Ellen have already established a report with their audience and themselves. Conor doesn't need to be hosting them. He can do whatever he was doing before. That'd be great! No offense, Conor. You seem like a decent guy but Ellen and Brett need no introduction or host.....they've been here for a while and they have proven themselves as capable hosts.

    • The only reason I started watching Current was because I stumbled across RT when the show first began. The only reason I started watching Infomania was because it preceded RT. RT was the only show on TV I actually made a point of telling my friends to watch.

Can't Ellen and Brett at least have their old studio background? The light is so harsh in this one.

Bring back Rotten Tomatoes and make it an hour long each week!

    • Ellen & Brett, I hope you're reading these comments because (other than typing this message) I'm laying on the floor having my first temper tantrum since childhood. Except this time my mom won't be able to shut me up with a quick swat on the hiney! I WANT MY DAMN SHOW BACK, I WANT MY DAMN SHOW BACK, I WANT MY DAMN SHOW BACK... just the way it was! Are you listening CurrentTV?????? Leave InfoMania alone, it's lovely as is and BRING BACK MY DAMN TOMATOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Oh, yeah... I'm only keeping this subscription to (hopefully) see where Brett and Ellen land next - hopefully soon. Would be nice if a major player scooped them up - Paramount? Viacom? TimeWarner?

    • Ellen and Brett were fine the way they were on the RT show. Who the hell is this Conor Knighton? Does he own the Infomania site? He must. I've seen these types before. Destroyers. Put the RT Show with Brett and Ellen back intact - no Conor. Brett & Ellen and critics from Rt.

    • I would really like to know why the show was taken off the air. Was it ratings? I mean I think if they had announced on the show that "the ratings are slipping and we could be taken off the air so if you want to keep watching please tell people about the show" or something, we the fans might have been able to save it. At least give the audience a chance to save the show instead of ending it abruptly. I think that is what has me angry the most. No reason why and no warning. Please bring back the full episodes. These segments on Infomania are ruining Infomania, an awesome show to begin with, and are just plain embarrassing.

    • BRING THE SHOW BACK!!!! This is a great show that should be on, AT LEAST, in an online format. It's smart, funny and informative. I'm a movie junkie and I like to hear about films that I may have missed (past and present) and this is a great way for me to get that info. They canceled at the Movies as well and I was glad to have this show (though I really enjoyed both shows). Such a waste of true talent. Brett and Ellen have a great chemistry, comic timing and insightful comments. And the "top fives" never fail to make me laugh!! BRING THE FULL SHOW BACK!!! Find the doe, I'll even watch more ads (ugh) to have it back. : (

    • Infomania is probably the best show on current besides vanguard, if (or when rather) the network gets dismantled i would try to sell infomania to comedy central and vanguard to nat geo or discovery.

    • Aww, look at Ellen. She really looked like she was trying to put as much in with what little time she had. Oh, Brett. Never gonna change his ways no matter the time. They REALLY don't need a host but I can see why they did it this time, you know...to like ease them in. I hope the next ones go better but this truly was horrible. Nothing special about it. I really like Brett and Ellen and I hope they give them more "creative freedom" to work with their 2 min or whatever segments. Definitely a work in progress.

      /sigh.

    • This was such a bad idea. It seems so uninformative... It never really gets to the main reason of why or why I should not see these movies. Also, as much as I enjoyed the mock interview with the horse, the segment is only two minutes long now! You don't have time to steer away from the review. On top of that, nothing against Conor Knighton, but Brett and Ellen can handle the segment on their own, it wasn't necessary for him to be there. Finally,Tomato ratings for the movies reviewed would have been useful...

    • It's always a joy seeing Brett/Ellen. But this feels like when you were in a relationship with someone and you decide to be "just friends" but you still have feelings whenever you see each other once a week.

    • It is a shame the way Current crapped all over The RTS, first by changing the format a few months back and then by breaking down the podcast to 3 minute bits.. and now this. Booooo Current

    • I can't believe this is what Rotten Tomatoes has been reduced to. Ellen and Brett being interviewed by Conor for two minutes? And this really had nothing to do with movies! The Rotten Tomatoes Show was a great show; earlier this summer I decided infoMania was done with and turned to the hilarious, perceptive, and witty RTS. And now they are part of infoMania, where the segment on women in the media has turned into a stand-up act, and Ben just shouts at a camera about how much he sucks? Come on, guys!

    • Well...there're lots of pintos in westerns. You know, with the cowboys and indians and all. But never...never has a pinto run in the Kentucky Derby. If Brett is going to continue to interview horses, he's got to be able to spot the celebrity imposters. Was he really that impressed with a British accent?

    • On their last show, Ellen said it was the last Rotten Tomatoes Show of the year. We still don't know why... three-month vacation, I hope.

And where are Infomania's full episodes?! What’s going on?!

Although it was never officially mentioned anywhere, Current TV shows are only available on Current TV, so you'll have to subscribe to the channel or watch choice clips on the Internet from now on. I was sad about this at first, but if this is quality of stuff they're going to be putting out, it doesn't matter so much to me.

I'll keep an eye out on what all the hosts are doing elsewhere, but I think my love affair with Current is pretty much over.

    • I had to register to make this post, and I never register for anything. For the love of god, bring back the whole show, not some 2 min fluff piece. The only show I watched on CurrentTV was the Rotten Tomatoes Show, and now its a measly 2 mins? Bring back the full show with Ellen/Bret, or I may have to cancel my new registration.
