Kid's Kouch Halloween Special

Ben_Hoffman
In this extra special (and spooky) Kid's Kouch taped in front of a live studio audience, a costumed Ben Hoffman (ketchup) and the kids (monster, skeleton and Star Wars' Princess Padme Amidala) discuss their fears (flaming cows), their favorite Halloween Movies ("It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" and "Halloween"), and the kids offer Ben advice on the proper dosage of his anti-anxiety medication.

infoMania is a half-hour satirical news show that airs on Current TV. The show puts a comedic spin on the 24-hour chaos and information overload brought about by the constant bombardment of the media. Hosted by Conor Knighton and co-starring Brett Erlich, Erin Gibson, Ben Hoffman, Bryan Safi and Sergio Cilli, the show airs on Thursdays at 11/10c on Current TV.

    • Ben, I am writing this in the hopes that someone from Current reads it and takes note. I am sick of all of Current's changes over the past few years, and I barely log on anymore. I only logged on this time to comment on what I just saw on TV - Infomania being ruined by a live studio audience.

I LOVE your segments, but as I'm sure you can see, this one was totally ruined by the live audience. Your comedy is so much funnier with the silences, without hearing others laugh at it. It's like the live show of 30 Rock - extremely funny material, cute concept, but hearing the audience laughing ruined their signature style of comedy, and suddenly what was once funny just doesn't work anymore.

I hope Current will stop this self-sabotage and go back to what we all used to love, with the creative freedom and the hourly robot-voice voted-upon news stories. Now it's just a waste and a bore. Hey Current Execs: it's clear to us by your actions that you don't care about losing your loyal fans. But do you feel any remorse about turning what was once an extremely respectable network/website into a pile of MTV-style waste? Just curious.

If you don't mind me being candid, I fricking hated it. Part of the reason I fell in love with infoMania was because it was very intelligent humor. It made you think, and you didn't always know what just hit you. Now, you're being told when to laugh. (And it's somewhat forced, mind you.) Come on, his isn't Tosh.0. Also, the audience takes away the beauty of editing and crafted skits. And I love Conor, but he needs to stop laughing at his own jokes. The audience also changes the stars of infoMania. It sort of pumps them up and makes them lose that cynicism that is such an essential part of the infoMania brand of humor, especially yours, Ben. I'll give it another chance next week, but I hope I'm not seeing the first seeds of a new, dumbed-down infoMania.

It was odd, that when i thought it wasn't that funny, they laughed..donno why? Maybe it's me..i don't get the jokes but i have nothing with the girl from your staff that does the modern lady show, but she's not funny for me and still..the live audience laughed.
In conclusion : no, i don't like the idea of live audience.

Kid's Kouch is funny. I always enjoyed your interview type stuff more than the soapbox rants (not that those weren't funny). Having said that, I think the live audience is a step in the wrong direction.

Thank you for expressing it perfectly. Back in 2007, I was Current's hugest, proudest fan. But every little change in Current since then (both TV and website) has brought me a smidgen closer to loathing this thing which I once loved.

Whereas Infomania was once considered original and creative, the live audience now just makes it seem like Infomania is now desperately trying to emulate "The Soup" (as opposed to simply fielding occasional comparisons to "The Soup"...) Very pathetic, and not at all the way to keep your fans.

Thanks, Current, for systematically ruining yourself over the past 3 years.

    • Laugh track? Are you kidding me? I will stop watching this show. The separation of the show into clips was bad enough. Who is in charge over there?

    • Infomania, you don't need a laugh track. Two and a Half Men has a laugh track. I agree with the other commenter that Sergio doesn't get enough air time.

    • I find the laugh track that has been added to infoMania unacceptable. Its like they want to trick me into thinking other people watch this show. THIS WILL NOT GET YOU MORE VIEWERS, PLEASE STOP IT.

    • I can't do the laugh track. I just can't.

I've been through Sarah leaving. And "Modern Lady." And not enough Sergio. And the fact that it takes me an hour to watch now because of it being in clips on this site.

      But this is too much.

You were my favorite show, Infomania. :(
