Rotten Tomatoes' Year in Movies

Brett_Erlich
The only thing keeping a "Rotten Tomatoes" feature from hitting the big screen is that Brett Erlich and Ellen Fox are true originals. OK, maybe that's not the only thing, but this look back at the year in movies vividly demonstrates Hollywood's fascination with the familiar. Fully half of 2010's top 10 movies (led by "Toy Story 3") were sequels, while even supposedly original movies seemed to share the same plot, such as "Despicable Me" and "Megamind" or the treacly trio of rom-coms "The Back-Up Plan," "The Switch" and "Life As We Know It." Brett and Ellen also make their predictions for 2011, including their take on the next "Twilight" film and a movie about ... Twitter?

Rotten Tomatoes is a recurring infoMania segment dedicated to the movies. Join hosts Brett Erlich and Ellen Fox on Thursday nights at 11/10c on Current TV as they roll out updates on the latest Hollywood news and judge the freshness of studio blockbusters and independent hits.
