Tron: Legacy Reviewed by Rotten Tomatoes on infoMania

Brett Erlich and Ellen Fox review "Tron: Legacy," the follow-up to the 1982 cult favorite that starred Jeff Bridges as a man trapped inside a software program. Bridges is back playing several versions of his prior role (in the present, in the past and as a computer avatar) while Garrett Hedlund plays his son, who enters the virtual world in search of the father he never knew. If that sounds confusing, well, it is. But can cool visuals and pulsing music (by Daft Punk) save the day?

Rotten Tomatoes is a recurring infoMania segment dedicated to the movies. Join hosts Brett Erlich and Ellen Fox on Thursday nights at 11/10c on Current TV as they roll out updates on the latest Hollywood news and judge the freshness of studio blockbusters and independent hits. • I watched the original TRON before I saw this, and I have to say, both of them had amazing graphics for their times. The original gave it all, but it's story kind of fell flat. So did this one. But, when you base a movie on the advancement of visual effects, that, unfortunately, is bound to happen. This new one was nothing more than a very good time for me, especially since it was the first time I saw an IMAX movie...

    • Jeff Bridges made the movie as far as acting, and Daft punk didn't make my ears bleed. If I want to kill some time , I'll watch this movie.

    • looking to much into it i think.
I feel that if this film would have been a summer film they would have said "this is the summer block buster" but since it didnt... well there you go. I thought it was good and it made me enjoy watching movies all over again. The plot is not complicated and though it's not quite what i expected, i enjoyed much more than Transformers. Either way see it to enjoy it, the reason why we all see films. We dont go to the theater to be a critic it's something fresh and a little different and as far as i know few young people have actually seen the original, so this is something new a different for audiences, unlike transformers or as i knew them growing up "beast wars". in my book its a 4 out 5!

    • Yeah, somehow watching the movie the second time did show the sulkiness of the actors, exept Jeff Bridges. But the designs and spec effects are still inspiring and very impressive.

    • Brett is spot on. TRON: Legacy was at the top of my list of anticipated movies this year and it SUCKED so hard! I just wanted my 2 hours back. I would've given them my money for free. Just don't make me sit through something so cold, empty and lifeless as this CRAMPTOWN fest! uggggh

    • I'm a big fan of the original, it had a lot going for it (story could be taken many ways: a.i., good vs evil, police state/corproate takeovers) and I liked the cheesy awesome glowstick on black&white effects. Looking forward to this sequel but nervous that it's gotten some bad reviews. Still will give it a shot.

    • I loved the original Tron and looked forward to seeing this one. I needed a Prozac after watching this bc everything was so dark and depressing. Tron ... hello, the movies namesake, along with Flynn, a guarenteed never to reappear in a sequel. A majority of the entire movie was just sad. And the only redeeming quality was the one thing that everyone else is going on about: the music. I never expected 'Legacy' to exceed the original, BUT... where the original set the bar and took cpu to new heights, Legacy took a step back, and actually copied story lines and ideas from other sci-fi like Star Wars. Thank you Disney, this was one birthday present that I wish I could have taken back. You won my Chris Carter award!

    • Yeah, the movie was Woooow. Loved it. True, very cool music and spec effects. Love the whole movie. Even though the plot indeed is kindy slow at some points and the main young character is kindy ok at acting, it's a must see movie.

    • Tron was effing epic. forget megan fox, olivia wilde is HAAWT! HIPSTERS! uggh. lets see you do better! you know what was painful? watching brett in a unitard on the bond villian video. that was painful. you know what else was painful? citizen kane. the movie had a huge gaping suppurating plot wound not hole, wound... there was no one around to see kane die, thus no one should have known his dying words. damn i don't know why i bother with film critics really.
