Change Is Good For You: infoMania on Idol, Regis, Oprah & Piers

Brett_Erlich
New host Brett Erlich takes the remodeled infoMania out for a spin for the very first time, so please keep your hands and feet inside the virtual vehicle until the comedy has come to a complete stop. He starts with what we humbly call "The Week in Everything." And that's just what it is, from J-Lo and Steven Tyler (S-Ty?) sliding into the judges' chairs on "American Idol," to Kelly Ripa's creepily suggestive offer to keep Regis Philbin from retiring, to Piers Morgan "grilling" Oprah on the premiere of his new CNN talk show.

infoMania is a half-hour comedy show that airs weekly on Current TV. Picture the ultimate office water-cooler, only with funnier co-workers who willingly stay up late imbibing all forms of media so you don't have to. Caveat: Bring your own water. Hosted by Brett Erlich and co-starring Sergio Cilli, Erin Gibson, Ben Hoffman and Bryan Safi, infoMania airs on Thursdays at 11/10c on Current TV.

    • This is the set of a boring news show, not a funny, informal one. I mean, Bret is going to sit behind a desk? C'mon Current, WTF where you thinking?? Also, Connor was way better as a host. Shame.

    • I kinda like the new look. I liked the old theme it was very relaxed and was similiar to The Soup but now it definately has a more professional feel. Although the desk shot is at times irritating 'The Week in Everything' segment reminded me of the same style as SNL's Weekend Update. I hope InfoMania keeps segments like 'VVFS' and 'We've Got You Covered' (or something similar to WGYC).
The one major concern I have about the episode is about not putting it online. I can understand the attempt to want more viewers watching Live on TV but Current was kinda the network that started the trend of putting the full episodes online. At least put the episode on Hulu. But good work, I love the opening and Brett is a fun and charismatic host, Can't wait tilll next week!

    • great show!!! I can only watch clips online... being in Canada, and whatnot, but I think the new format is going to work well, and more of Brett is never a problem for me... I just hope we still get some VVFS.
I really wish you guys would bring back the full episode stream, but oh well. that is my only complaint.
Connor was great, and he will be missed, but I am really glad the show dynamic is changing, so that we aren't just comparing old/new all the time... I liked the interview style set-up as it made the whole thing seem a little less contrived... that way there is someone to talk to/at, which I think was the point of trying the studio audience - this way is much better!

    • I did actually like it. It's fresher, more dynamic and Brett is simply good at this. Way to go. I was one of those who was reluctant to change as I was sure it'd be lame, you proved me damn wrong though. Way to go!!!

    • I'm going to miss Conor Knighton A LOT, but Brett, if for no other reason than you getting the shortest straw, you are the best choice for a new host and the new format just revives the spark that was dying out at the end of last year.
