Brett Erlich and Ellen Fox review "The Green Hornet," starring Seth Rogen as a slacker scion to a media fortune who turns to fighting crime with his faithful sidekick Kato (Jay Chou) after his father dies suddenly. The film had a somewhat tortured trip to the screen; do Brett and Ellen think it was worth it?

    • As a part of the generation that was introduced to Bruce Lee through the Green Hornet...I had high hopes that they would do my childhood memory justice but was a bit disappointed...It was a cute film but more worth the "Red Box" rental than the $'s at the box office...

    • I think that Seth Rogan screwed up the story. To me he did not even fit the character of what I would expect the Green Hornet to be. It is as if he bumbled and fumbled his way thru the movie. When it was announced that he was doing the Green Hornet, I kinda felt it would be a severe disappointment and I was not let down because it was what I expected. One thing that stuck out in the movie that I did not like was when he called Kato a bastard, which to me is a sign of previldged arrogance and stupidity. I also feel that he tried to do as Michael Keaton did when he did Batman. It worked. But Seth Rogan was a severe miscast he looked like an idiot. He did a great disservice to the genre. I would hope that there be another attempt @ the Green Hornet. Because we have been Batman'd and Superman'd to death over the past number of years. They are constantly reconstituting these 2 superheroes until I am really tired of it. They could have had more suave, debonair types cast as GH. I will not see another on until they replade Seth as the lead character because "HE SUCKED"!!!!!! with a capitol S

    • This film insults it's viewers with it's banal blabbering, extremely un- funny humor and mediocre action. Beyond being an insult to the viewers intelligence, it is disrespectful of the Americana it represents. I still get kind of mad when I think this was what they came up with based on the idea that I would find it funny. This film is right in my demographic and cant find the door.

I am in no way implying that GH is some holy ground of historical significance. Just saying that if your going to make it serious dont hire a stoner college drop out movie icon to flagship it. You wanna make it funny, than do it. The total lack of funny makes me feel like Seth just got stoned for a week, wrote the script and laughed his butt off. It is only mildly amusing to those of us who dont get burned hourly.

    • I actually watched that film when it came out, and I'm with "Team Brett" here (sorry Ellen), I enjoyed it. One criticism, I don't think it should've been released in 3D (I did spend £15 for the best seats + the 3D glasses which I can take home from my local cinema), should've just released it in 2D.
