Can the iPhone "Cure" Gayness?

bryan_safi
The iPhone can do most anything. But is it powerful enough to turn gay folks straight? That's the question that infoMania's "That's Gay" correspondent, Bryan Safi, tackles this week in examining the new iPhone app issued by Exodus International. The Christian group seeks to curb what it considers to be the scourge of homosexuality, and is now doing so on the hippest smartphone around. As Bryan notes, who knew all that hatred could fit in your pocket?

That's Gay is a recurring segment on the weekly television show infoMania. In each episode of That's Gay, Bryan Safi explores gay issues and stereotypes as they are portrayed by the clueless media. For more Bryan visit http://current.com/groups/thats-gay/ and Current TV.

infoMania is a half-hour comedy show that airs weekly on Current TV. Picture the ultimate office water-cooler, only with funnier co-workers who willingly stay up late imbibing all forms of media so you don't have to. Caveat: Bring your own water. Hosted by Brett Erlich and co-starring Sergio Cilli, Erin Gibson, Ben Hoffman and Bryan Safi, infoMania airs on Thursdays at 11/10c on Current TV.

    • Thank you, Steve Jobs. The people promoting "ex-gay therapy" ignore the people who have committed suicide as a result of going through this "therapy". They care nothing for the vast amount of scientific research which shows sexual orientation is an inherent trait. They do not care about the people going through the "therapy". All they care about is promoting their personal dogma. To anyone who is thinking about going through such "therapy", don't be fooled by the sanctimonious attitudes of these homophobes.

    • What about astrology or an app about matching clothing to season that are not scientifically verified? Should those be taken down as well? Seems a homosexual reporter has nothing to do to legitimize his identify as a specialist gay reporter.

    • Steve Jobs is known to read emails sent to him and even respond on occasion, and on Monday I sent him a very excellent letter asking him to pull the app (I've been an Apple user even through its bad times in the late '90s). Two days after my letter, on Wednesday, Apple removed this Gay Cure app.

Was it because of me alone? Of course not. The 150,000+ petitioners, bloggers online, Bryan's segment on current, The Advocate articles, et al contributed to our success.

ACTIVISM WORKS. Keep it up, gays. =)

    • Okay, I don't like bias in media but sadly that's how it is. First of all, if you're gay or lesbian, ask yourself WHY you chose to be gay or lesbian. If you feel you did it for the wrong reasons and you feel you don't want to be gay anymore, then don't. It's the motive that concerns me. If you're looking for a honest relationship with someone, that's cool. But if you're gonna go out and party and just randomly screw everyone you see then you're honestly wasting your time (that and it gays and lesbians who ACTUALLY want a relationship with someone a bad name)

You don't CHOOSE who you fall in love with, it's not a choice. If we weren't defined by man or woman lets say, we'd fall in love because we were attracted to them, not cause of their sexual orientation. I truly did not think hate was a family value. YOu love who uyou love. Unless your love is fake, if so, sucks for you. I'm not gay but VERY supportive.

    • as if anyone has equal representation on the closed AppStore. If these retards wanted equal representation, they'd make an android application... wait, apple has a larger homosexual base than any other operating system.

    • while i assume the iphone is a splediforous thing (i love my droid), i'm quite sure if years of direct "repairative" therapy including spiritual, psychological and physical means did not cure me, then a technological app cannot.

    • I suspect the app works by: as long as you use the iPhone as a phone and don't go on the net, the app sends signals to your brain => "you will not think about penises, you will not think about 6-pack abs, you will not sing Bette Midler or Cher tunes, you will not "Vogue," you will not Y-M-C-A.

Since these are truly subliminal messages from the phone to your brain, pretty soon you'll be respectably Macho, like Andrew Dice Clay, Alice Cooper both of whom, it is well known are lusted after by nearly all women. Or Eddie Izzard, whichever.
