Bottoms up! How you hold your drink shows your personality

Forget the stylish outfit, the expensive coiffure and the witty chat-up lines. That all-important first impression comes from how you hold a drink.

A new study has found that the way a person clutches or caresses their glass offers an insight into their personality. An observer can tell whether you’re a playboy or a fun-lover, a flirt or a an ice queen simply by watching the way you swig a pint or sip your wine.

After studying more than 500 drinkers, psychologist Glenn Wilson has split them into eight categories.

    • What does it make me if, say, I happen to drink my wine through a straw? Or straight from the bottle? I call "inaccurate" shenanigans.

    • Uh ... this is total crap. I can't tell the difference between the way anyone is holding teir glass but obviously Katie Price is going to be labeled a flirt and Jack Nicholson, in a photo where he is surrounded by women, a playboy. It seems to be more about who you're with than how you're drinking

    • Uhmmm... I can't tell the difference between any of these holding methods from the photos. It's more about the body language. But according to the descriptions of the categories, I think I stumble between the gossip, ice queen and fun lover.
