Eddie Van Halen is going to sue Nike because one of their new shoes looks a little bit like his guitar, which he owns the rights to. He is set to release his own line of footwear soon which (much more closely) resembles the design.
Nike aren't worried. The shoe and the guitar are not hugely similar and they haven't used the Van Halen name in their marketing campaign. Not directly, anyway.

Neither should Nike be worried. This lawsuit won't go anywhere. the usage of colored striped on the soles of shoes is nothing new. They just happen to be red, black and white. a color combination that is pretty hot right now.
