"Now any idiot can be a critic?" Where has she been for the last fifteen years? We've lived in a society that's had to deal with instant feedback long enough that most who write/publish/rant should expect a certain amount of negativity regardless of how subtle or overt it happens to be dished out.

This is real shame (Alice Hoffman's one of my favourite authors) as the criticism of the book itself wasn't even that bad. I wonder what possessed her to publish the woman's phone number?
I don't think it's a maketing ploy - she decided to rant and it doesn't look like an apology is in sight either!
