Author trashes critic on Twitter

Wow. Talk about overreaction...

Alice Hoffman, author of 'Practical Magic' amongst other things, kicked off good and proper over a, at most, lukewarm review of her latest book, 'The Story Sisters'. Check out the link to see the Tweets, and also a selection of the reviewers comments.

Actual full on insane reaction, or clever marketing ploy?

    • "Now any idiot can be a critic?" Where has she been for the last fifteen years? We've lived in a society that's had to deal with instant feedback long enough that most who write/publish/rant should expect a certain amount of negativity regardless of how subtle or overt it happens to be dished out.

    • This is real shame (Alice Hoffman's one of my favourite authors) as the criticism of the book itself wasn't even that bad. I wonder what possessed her to publish the woman's phone number?

I don't think it's a maketing ploy - she decided to rant and it doesn't look like an apology is in sight either!
