The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has sued the United States government to seek federal marriage benefits for gay couples. Massachusetts became the first state to legalize gay marriage, and is now challenging the federal 1996 Defense of Marriage Act. The Defense of Marriage Act denies married gay and lesbian couples access to more than 1,000 federal programs and legal protections, like federal income tax credits, health insurance coverage, and Social Security payments. The lawsuit would not affect any other state.
Just another reason I am proud to say I am from Massachusetts.

"Boston, you're my home!" To think, a state founded by ultra conservatives is doing this. Lets hope it doesn't take almost 400yrs for the rest to catch up.
