2-D in Love in Japan

A brilliant article on the expanding phenomenon of "moe relationships" - Japanese men who fall in love with two-dimensional characters, freeing themselves from "the expectations of an ordinary human relationship and express their passion for a chosen character, without fear of being judged or rejected."

The journalist interviews Nisan (pictured), a 2-D lover whose "girlfriend" is a stuffed pillowcase depicting Nemu, a video game character.

    • I actually know someone who would rather love figurines and such (I don't know what all he has) than have a real woman.

      I thought it was really sad. One can draw any fantasy, and reality probably will not resemble the situation, such as with henti.

      So the further one gets into the fantasy world the further down the rabbit hole one can go if they don't have at least one foot in reality. And some, like the guy I know, don't.
