Does American Apparel only want to employ hot people?

In an email they received from an anonymous tipster who claims to be an American Apparel shop manager, it's claimed that Charney asked global store managers to send him pictures of their staff "so that he could personally judge people based on looks. He is tightening the AA 'aesthetic,' and anyone that he deems not good-looking enough to work there, is encouraged to be fired. This is blatant discrimination based on looks."
So supposing for a second that it's true... would this put anyone of shopping there? I like their stuff but for what it is, it's a little pricey so I tend not to bother buying.

And they're not big on unattractive customers either. If I'm going to be treated like a hobo, I might as well do it at a better store than American Apparel.

These allegations do not surprise me at all. Dov's 'moustache rides' are legendary.

Whether or not AA (or A&F or any trendy brand) employees are hot or not doesn't put me off shopping there. It's the fact that they sling cotton at ridiculously overpriced rates. I am not kidding you. A pair of black leggings (ok, cotton & spandex) cost £20 at AA. Hipster robbery.

Personally, I find the attractiveness of the seller most important when I purchase my fad-tastic clothing I buy purely for novelty value.
American Apparel and Abercrombie and Fitch should merge, it would make it easier to boycott them both.
