Artist David Ingham was thrown out of school when he was 12 by headmaster Marcelus Forster - who told him at the time he would 'never amount to much'.
Well, 55 years later Ingham - who went on to become an art teacher - has been commissioned to paint a portrait that very headmaster.
He said: "The secretary of the Old Boy's Society got in touch because he knew of my work. He said 'we'd like you to do one of Mr Forster', I said 'you do know he expelled me don't you?'"
Ingham said he used to wind up the headmaster: "One day he said 'get out here and I'll cane you' and I said 'come and get me.' He went to the head after that and I was expelled."
But it's all water under the bridge now. The portrait will hang in the school's library.
