Landscape of Delight

I have alwys loved the old American Cubist works of Charles Sheeler, Charles Demuth, etc... the industrial landscapes and such...
So, considering Energy, Green, Ecology and what not, are all so "hot topic" these days... I decided to give that whole old scene an update...
I have visited several large nuculear, hydro, and coal burning stations in my day... whatever your feeling about energy, you have to admit, visually the things are impressive...
This piece is rather tounge in cheeck... so, well the veiw in this ink drawing don't necessarily reflect Ahhaterry's views...
I am hoping the technology on-line for the near future will make these bad boys obsolete...
btw, the Chinese are building, um, like, 600,000 of these new facilites a day, so heads up America...
I realizes I am pushing the whole Eco theme here, but my spider web made of plastic trash bags isn't finished... so... here, another pen and ink drawing, how boring...

I get it when you say that these buildings are visually impressive, I live near a lot of refineries myself and up close and at night they are quite a sight. I guess my problem with this image is that you say they are impressive yet I don't really get a sense of them being all that impressive or grand from your drawing. I agree with Delia that the bottom halve with the "stuff dumping out" is the more intresting part with it's complexity but the upper halve is kinda bland and easily overlooked. Maybe you should give them thicker stroke lines, or make them taller/larger to give them a little more visual weight, w/o making them all complex. otherwise it might lessen the awesome bottom halve. Just saying.

Many people assert that we can't make the transition away from fossil fuels without nuclear energy; but I wonder about that myself all the time. As you said, either way the buildings are quite a site to see! I like the stuff dumping out in the middle of the piece and your shading is great! "This is a beautiful landscape", tongue in cheek indeed!
