Redheads Twice as Likely to Avoid Dentist Than Brunettes?!

A new study has shown that redheads are more than twice as likely to avoid the dentist than brunettes - because they feel pain more acutely.

Experts believe redheads require larger doses of anaesthetics to numb pain sensations compared to people with other hair colours.

However, it was suggested redheads might actually opt to go to the dentist sooner when in pain than people with other hair colours.

Gordon Watkins from the British Dental Association's health and science committee said: "If they were in pain from toothache then their pain would probably be more noticeable to them making it more likely that they would seek help from a dentist sooner than someone with a higher pain threshold."

Any redheads out there who can verify this?

    • Where do blondes fit in? Because I've been avoiding my dentist for far too long now. I think I'll ring him today.

Anyways, I think this is a bit of a stretch. This is the kind of weird and warped scientific reporting that reporters do to create a story out of nothing. I hated my statistics and analysis class, but at least I know that not all factors in a data set are statistically relevant. Surely there is something else going on here.

    • Why does hair colour have anything to do with pain threshold? If anything, you'd think the years of bullying would get redheads used to liking and lumping things.
