I am commenting because I found this product about just before the Hudson Bay Crash happened. There are products on the market that use a non-lethal approach. Somehow someone discovered that Methyl-Anthranilate ( MA ) is an irritant for birds and they won't hang out in an area that is fogged with it.
MA is found in nature (concord grapes - most commonly). It's called Fog Force™ ( http://www.rejexit.com/index.asp ). It is also benign to humans & the environment — I wish we could say that about more products. My point is if a "pesticide" can be non-lethal and benign to the environment I bet a lot of other products could be as well. Then maybe we wouldn't find rocket fuel compounds in baby formula. - 3 years ago

I always wondered how birds were cleared from a runway. I wonder if this is done in other airports around the world??? Cool pod!

Very informative. The segment is perfect for the piece - not too long and not too short - just enough to relay all the necessary information. The pod also highlights a neglected aspect of bird control population. In this day and age of modern technology, it is refreshing to see the durability of traditional methods in solving problems. Lastly, I think this piece also shows the positive contribution of falconry to society - an aspect not generally known. Overall, an informative and entertaining pod.

This is a very interesting look at a part of life we don't even know about, or know exists. What a great job to have, and service to our safety. You have to watch this pod.

Great pod, such and interesting and often forgotten job. Really great camera work too, I love the shots of him baiting the falcons. And I think Bob the Falconer puts it best when he notes how interesting it is that in the age of computers and gps and such that falconing is still the most effective method for clearing run ways.
