I love it! I get them props. If they keep doing what they do, they'll get far and I believe they will get what They have been fighting for. Its great, and its about time someone is brave enough to do it.

I've seen a lot of people asking if they can contribute or help out in some way.
The group has a website, GulabiGang.org and there you can find information about them, what they're doing, what they need funds for, links to their blog and book, and the option to donate/send a regular contribution.
I think this video is so inspiring and these women break my heart while at the same time uplifting my spirit. This is truly justice in its purest form and we could all learn a lesson from them: nobody gives you power; you just take it.
Hope to see more updates about this band of women! From what I can tell from their website, the group is still alive and well and moving forward! Great to see!

Hi Jeff. I see a lot of people with the same comments on this vid! I had the same thought myself and did some Googling to find their website, GulabiGang.org. They have info about their missions, schools, etc. and links to a blog and book (both in French from what I can surmise) and the option is there to donate or have a regular monthly contribution. I think any help these women get will go a long way! Hope this helps you!

I found this pod very interesting and I just had to voice my support. It is time for these women to be heard. Only they can make their lives better. I wish them the best and hope that more struggling countries' female populations will catch on to this. As for the negativity, its just a shame that anyone would think making home life safer for any human would be a threat.

Anyone who's an activist(Emphasis on the ACTIVE in activist) should follow the example of these women. You can't sit around and wait for the people who are enforcing laws that are against your rights, to change. You must take the law into your own hands. By force, if neccessary. The people have the power. If it weren't for us, the governments of the world would not be IN power. People say that they want change, and they have stances like "anarchist", and they boast about how much they hate the gov't, but I have yet to see a much-needed, massive uprising of the people against their suppressors. If we really wanted to end world hunger, stop police brutality, end homelessness, end the war in Iraq, end all of the injustices that the gov't has made us complacent to, we would have done it already. Remember that scene from V for Vendetta? All of those people against their gov't. The gov't didn't stand a chance. If only life imitated art.

This was fantastic and inspiring to watch...as an Indian Man born and raised in America, I have grown up being inspired by Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. and Tupac and so many other elements...one of my greatest inspirations in my Mother...she has instilled an appreciation and respect of women and all people in general, but specifically because of the ignorant, selfish and inhumane treatment of women in India and other places in the world, there is a great need for women to take those rights, freedoms and opportunities that any women deserves as a human and Child of God...
It was great to see these women find family and a reason to live in each other...the poverty and human rights violations in India can break a person down, and through each other, these women have risen and are daily making a positive difference for themselves and other women that join them...and all in pink...BFAM_RVS

This is a direct result of the disgusting western women influencing the developing world. They pass along their poisonous attitudes, general unhappiness, and disdain for anything male. I know this "looks" like a great thing, but remember the video is made to promote it, to exaggerate. Also remember that the elites want women working and out of the house. Then, 100% of the population is taxed and the kids are easier to manipulate in school, daycare, etc..

Wow, you got all really wrong or you are still living in the 1800's.
- First of all, any kind of repression and discrimination HAVE TO be avoided and prohibited.
- Second, no woman or human being no matter race, religion or sexual preference is disgusting for demand their rights of choose what they want to do with their lives.
- Third, I don't know which elites are you talking about, if you are talking about all the civilised and educated world well yeah, since everybody realized that women are smart, hard workers and a very useful add to the productive society, and was a right they were asking for. Nobody meant to keep them out of their homes away from their families.
- Fourth, This video is a great piece of work, and is intended to inform about the PROGRESS of some communities in the fight for human rights and the hard work of some women who are fighting for their rights which is an amazing example for other countries and communities.
To sum up I think you should show a little respect, for the producer of this video, her work and most important for the women featured in it.

Thank you for your response.
I would also like to add that this video is not made for promotion or exaggeration. Infact I tried very hard to get opposing points of view from the men. But there were hardly any. Most of the men in that area appreciate the effort these women are making. Also since this is a short video on a subject that could probably make a 30 min documentary, a lot of things get left out. For example, there is a man who is actually part of the gang. The husband of one of the women supports them because of his wife!I think you are coming from a basic Western viewpoint ( if I am not mistaken) and therefore you misinterpret. In a region where food and shelter is the most primary concern, 'feminism' in its modern form is unheard of. They are responding to lack of basic human rights as individuals, as human beings and not as women who disdain men.

And also, there are no daycare centers here. There is still a long way to go before all the children start going to school. The idea of getting women out of their homes is not part of an elitist conspiracy. The women get out of their homes because what the man earns is not enough to feed everyone.
Western influence is limited to Pepsi and Coca Colas and girls in jeans for the most part.

Maybe you dont get the point of this at all. This is fighting for woman's rights in a sexist society and its not about a total disrespect for men, its about the men that abuse woman as a lower class of person. Perhaps you should step back up to reality a little more.

Hi, yes, I felt the same way when I saw it so I googled them and came upon their website. It is GulabiGang.org and they have an option to donate or to have a regular subscription with many different payment methods. The founder, Sampat, also has a blog and a book on Amazon but as far as I can tell, they are both in French and have no English translation. The site, however, has English, Spanish, and French versions and is easy to navigate. Hope this helps!

Fantastic pod! Old-school and informational, but creatively shot and edited, with a cool soundtrack that adds to the film, an uplifting message, a clear narrative, and an insight into a world not many people could access. I like it lots! What are you working on next, Shagun?

LindseyIndigo:
Hey Lindsay
I'm glad you liked it. The reason why this is old school is primarily because this was commissioned by Current TV and I thought an informational style would work best for a subject and a region about which everything else will be new to the people watching it.
I would love to experiment in my future projects for Current TV but what stops me is the apprehension that I may compromise clear communication. Do you think that is a valid concern? As a viewer, you can help me with this. Let me now what you think.Shagun

Yes, Shagun: Great Video.
I didn't get the 'old school' thing ---- that's probably because I'm ancient school. I thought the pacing and shift from location look-and-feel to story specifics were executed with exactly the right pacing for this viewer.
And the background music was right-on.
