Love the temple . To burn it , is very much a meditation on impermanence and how precious each moment and resource is . Also , you can't take none of it with you , none , but the love ...

This was truly a remarkable peace of art. To bad they polluted the environment with the fire and smoke. They could have been used for animal shelter that live in the desert. But great idea. People could have did something like that every year and the desert would be full of these beautiful architectures from waste that other wise would be in our landfills. It could have attracted tourist for years and years and brought money to our economy. Why didn't anyone think about that? Ugh.. I'm sad now.

This pod really got me, along with the one that featured its predecessor the year before (follow the link above). This is a story that needs to be told as this art installation goes to the very heart of Burning Man. Thanks for the good cry.

This temple was the best so far. the sonic element of the cans and hangy things moving in the wind added so much. When I first heard of it I thought, Oh great, a bunch of hippie carpentry, but damn, to stand in there and up on the deck - it was over the top beautiful. Total kudos to all who built it.

This was my first year and everyone said go to the temple, go to the temple.I ventured out on the playa and thought is that the temple? I got closer and closer and hear sitar and flute being played. I saw recycled wood made into art, I saw words of sadness and letting go. I was overcome with the beauty and with the emotions people had written, I felt this palpable sadness of all the cries and sighs of pain that people had expressed. It was THE most moving thing I saw out there. I have such gratefullness to all who made it happen. For me it just appeared, but I know it took many months and hours of volunteer time to make it look so beautiful. sign me up to volunteer in Oakland next year...............thank you thank you thank you

This was my favorite temple in 9 years of going to the playa. I thought it was more accessible and the sound aspect was supremely beautiful - I don't remember any of the other temples having things hanging that made a sound when the wind blowed. Also, this temple creaked in the wind which was scary but sounded great. I also liked the part where you could lie on the ground and get close to the sound of the Earth. Sound sound sound! And then the Burn, oh my God! I loved that it took 45 minutes to burn. Sad that I missed the dust devils, but I loved the quiet and sublime all around me as the temple burned. I so appreciated everyone being reverent and in their own spaces during that time. Then, the wind blew and the dust raged and the snow was outrageous! And, back to BMIR to teach Universal Language as people fled the City in the white-out. What a great night. I'll never forget it. Spicey

This was the perfect expression of what BM represents. A rethinking of what really is beauty. Transforming trash, things we take for granted or see as a nuisance to be discarded, into a magic, all-encompassing invisible feeling of rebirth. The place absolutely vibrated with it. An amazing feat. Watching the video brought back that huge feeling of wonder and awe that I felt when I came to write my message to Gary. Three years I have carried this burden of guilt and duty and saying goodbye and letting it all go made me feel like it was okay finally, to move on. And Gar SO would have loved to see the Temple. It was exactly perfect for who he was - infinitely more so than the farce of his funeral which was nothing like him. Thank you. Thank you for setting us both free.
Will you construct another Temple for next year's burn? If you do and will permit outsiders (aren't we all outsiders?) to volunteer, how can I be a part of it?
Thanks again.
