    • To THE PEOPLE WHO POSTED VIDEOS ACTING A FOOL ON SALVIA ON YOUTUBE: FUCK YOU. once again: FUCK YOU. Jackasses. There was a time when I could freely go to my local head shop where i could procure what I felt was a blessing and a tool. Salvia D. makes mushrooms look like a kiddie coaster and gives one the opportunity to explore alternate realities. Inception is popular this week and in a way S.D. is like that or avatar in a way in that it can take you for such a TRIP, moreso than anything else and that transcendence holds something; spiritual. Not fun, but interesting, perhaps enlightening. But no, you lowlifes thought it was so funny disrespecting such a powerful, naturally occurinng psychoactive. Thanks for ruing it for everybody :(

    • There are such thing as salvia retreats, where you can plan to take salvia under the supervision and guidance of shamans. I believe that this drug, like some other drugs, has medical and spiritual benefits that should not be banned merely because of the mindlessness and carelessness of certain individuals.

Perhaps a way to keep salvia legal is to ban selling it from regular smoke shops, and making it available only to those who attend these day/weekend retreats. shamans have been using salvia as a means of expanding their consciousness, and used in the right way, can actually help a human being gain a greater understanding of themselves and the universe.

Posting youtube videos of doing drugs on your driveway or home and acting like idiots isn't going to help, and can certainly lead to stupid behavior. As with anything, moderation is the key...

    • Salvia really isn't that big of a deal when used in moderation. If you are/were a marijuana smoker and you no longer are able to then Salvia is a good alternative IMO.

A little 20x extract smoked slowly will have a nice effect with little to no visuals. Don't be foolish and try to smoke a bowl of 50x extract in one hit it doesn't matter what your buddies are trying to tell you to do -_-.

These kids trying to look cool on YouTube slaughter Salvia and make it look like they've compressed an LSD documentary into 5 minutes with the three stooges laughing in the background.

The people on YouTube will probably never smoke salvia again because they are using too high a dosage and start to feel extremely hot and some nausea. It is very uncomfortable when you smoke Salvia like that :-\

    • Making Salvia illegal would be a mistake. Show me an example where making a drug illegal actually helped in controlling the substance. When a substance is made illegal it only makes it more tempting for adolescents. I mean adolescents rebelling is more then a boring cliche, it's the truth. Make it illegal and people would be more interested.

What they should do is control Salvia. Sell it in stories were it can be monitored. As long as it stays legal people won't be afraid to call the police or an ambulance if something happens. When it's legal people are less afraid of getting in trouble and thus won't shy away from seeking help.

I have tried it with my friends and we take great care to not endanger ourselves. We do it one at a time and everyone is ready to help if anything bad happens and nothing did. We were all fine at the end and had fun. I haven't tried it again since.

    • salvia is from the earth. we have been consuming things from the earth for millions of years. the DEA should put a ban on our processed foods before the try to make this plant illegal.

you should never listen to anyone. after the cure for cancer has come out and its WHAT YOU EAT. i dont trust anything that the DEA says or the FDA or the government. they dont give a shit about you all they care about is making money.

i really dont care if u dont believe what i said because i know the truth and if your that closed minded then im sorry for you

    • i tried it and i liked it. it was very intense, like a dream but it felt very real. you definitely wouldn't try it while driving or any other situation where you need to be sober. and if you smoked some before planning on driving, then you wouldn't even be capable of starting a car or probably even getting into a car (which is what that dude in the video showed). i could see it only being dangerous in a bad situation like near a pool or in public. There may be an occasional accident but people who do dumb stuff on drugs are already dumb as hell anyway and deserve it. like bill hicks said.

    • That guy talking about how people could take a hit while driving basically destroys his case if that's all he has. It only lasts like 5 minutes, and it's not like marijuana where you could take it and feel it's possible to drive a car because your ability to control your body hasn't been changed much. It messes up your ability to control your body to a degree where anyone who has actually tried it wouldn't consider driving on it in the slightest.

    • My salvia got unhappy and died. :(

I guess I shouldn't have left it in a one gallon pot. It may have just wanted to be in the ground. I was worried that it would get too cold so I left it in the pot, thinking I would move it inside. I never did get to try it. I've got a toddler and an infant so it wouldn't be a great plant to have around the house now anyway. If it was meant to be, it will come back to me.

    • Unfortunately I've tried Salvia before, 60x extract to be exact and I must say I will never smoke it again. I took two water pipe hits, the first induced mild laughter but the second...I should've never taken the second hit. I felt the effects for at least a good thirty minutes when they say it should last between 5-15 (it was an extra large hit).

Now I experiment with mushrooms from time to time and smoke a blunt pretty much everyday and I have never in my life experienced anything this powerful.

I'm all for a ban on salvia.

      Legalize weed.

    • people who say it sucks are probably not using it properly, it is NOT a party drug, it is not something to do with a group of friends and laugh and run around. its not weed and it is not alcohol.

also, smoking salvia is an quick and wasteful way to use it.

    • To speak very frankly, Salvia Divinorum changed my perception of reality forever, and made me ask questions I may never have thought relevant in my life otherwise. Its effects are indeed dramatic and unlike anything else on earth, but if used responsibly, pose no threat to the user. Quite to the contrary, its benefits far outweigh any perceivable detrimental effects. To outlaw it would be a crime in and of itself.

    • salvia is one of hell of a drug. Its like traveling through another dimension; like travelling through a mandelbrot set.

There are no long term side effects. So i say what the hell?!!

    • James67:

      Duration of effect

If salvia is smoked the main effects are experienced quickly. The most intense ‘peak’ is reached within a minute or so and lasts for about 1–5 minutes, followed by a gradual tapering back. At 5–10 minutes, less intense yet still noticeable effects typically persist, but giving way to a returning sense of the everyday and familiar until back to recognizable baseline after about 15 to 20 minutes.[45]

Chewing the leaf makes the effects come on more slowly, over a period of 10 to 20 minutes, the experience then lasting from another 30 minutes up to one and a half hours.[45]

When taken as a tincture the effects and duration are similar to other methods of oral ingestion, though may be significantly more intense, depending on the potency of the extract.

    • Why must a few idiots on youtube ruin for people that might actually get some good out of the drug.

All drugs have side effects, and have their good effects.

Making it illegal will just make these same idiots take the drug and keep it from people who could actually use it!

    • I watched a video called lovely lovely beer with some friends one night on youtube. It's a compilation of drunk people getting hurt and being completely wasted in public. Then I watched the salvia videos and it's just people sitting at home laughing and acting goofey. Now I'm going to be told that I can go to jail (much more harmful to your health then salvia) because I possess salvia.

They make plants illegal to possess but there's still chemicals and hormones in our foods as long as it's regulated by the FDA I guess we can trust it. The government is the most powerful mafia in the world.

There's still a long list of drugs that are not illegal yet that are pretty powerful if anyone is in the know.

It doesn't make a difference to me if it's illegal, many other things are.

    • It'll get expensive lasting only 5 minutes and experience with it in Hawaii was closer to 2 minutes. Feels like the walls are pulsing in, drapes and lines become non-perpendicular, totally uncontrollable laughter, limbs and digits want to shoot out. Its an acute acid trip and don't recommend trying indoors. So yes, that can be frightening to many people but the medical implications are vast. Very interesting that it targets only one specific receptor in the brain.

    • Salvia is interesting. The active substance in it is very similar to one of the substances the brain naturally produces while dreaming.

I have found smoking salvia to be very enjoyable... As long as it is done properly, safely, and responsibly. In my personal experience, it caused me to relive various moments from my life in brief intervals, along with abstract imagery, though it doesn't have the same effect for everyone. I like it, but it's not something I'd do frequently.

A lot of the people in those videos were using too much or were just not relaxed. You really do have to be relaxed and in a peaceful environment to enjoy it, and only start with small doses. Otherwise, yeah, you might have a bad trip.

It makes me sad that there is legislation moving against it, but not because I'd miss using it. Rather, it just shows, again, how arrogant legislators are... Oh, well.

...On the other hand, I doubt there would be much black market for it. It is pretty intense, really.

    • Salvia is a very powerful drug. I've used it 10-20 times and have learned all i need to from the drug. It is definitely mind-blowing when smoked or ingested correctly.

I am saddened by the current legislation to ban the plant. It does pose a threat ( being under the influence leaves your motor skills inoperable), but its a spiritual drug used by Native Americans for a long while now. I don't think states are doing the right thing by banning it, especially since their is no scientific evidence to support the ban.

Seriously. like most of the clips shown in this cast you stay in one place. even when he was in a car, in a video called "driving on Salvia", he did not once touch his keys or even think about driving. This drug, unlike others in my experience, makes you want to stay in one place and not move.

But making it illegal will drive usage up as well as demand for something that hasn't yet hit a black market.

Just regulate the damn stuff. Videos don't mean shit. Have there been any deaths, overdoses or direct accidents or fatalities attributed? I bet not. Don't feed the fear, just be careful with it.
