    • From the first film they did together, this was almost a mirror image of their performance with Diego Luna being overly aggressive know it all and Gael Garcia Bernal just picks up as a reserved, sensitive youngster w/o a clue.
Ellen is right, we want to like this film but it lacks a true protagonist, plot and substance. A bright spot is the authentic feel from the camera work and locations since we can't expect Robert Rodriguez to produce all the movies from Mexico, Rudo Y Cursi gives us a different cultural perspective.
Check it out, but dont expect too much.

    • this comes from a cinema international lovin fanatic, i love movies, Im mexican and its true if you arent familiar with the old school and popular culture in our country any of this movie will make any sense to you, there are not so many cool comedies in mexican films this was one of those that got everyone talking about in my country, laughin and all, i loved the movie, is the story about 2 beutiful rednecks in the persuit of the dreams havin no idea of the danger of the big city, even if the end gives a ugly messege (in mexico the narcs always win...) i love the way the script was managed, the pop culture was represented im not a big fan of the movies made in my country (i got a bunch of faves but some are just not good at all) this one is a fave, diego luna and gael garcia are like the coolest match and i think that this film is to anyone who is trying to make it big and make realize how difficult it is not only in your land.

    • this movie is definitely not for everyone

i loved it, laughed out loud,

but if you're unfamiliar with the culture they're portraying, i'm not sure how well it will go for you

the movie is so ridiculously real it's hilarious

I think its great, not because of the story line, or the acting, but because of all those little things that make it so true to some people's life in Mexico
