Edgeless darkness.

Edge of Darkness - Nice to see Gibson playing the part of something he's familiar with, but the cheese! Oh the cheese!

From the man who brought you Mad Max, Lethal Weapon, Braveheart... never mind all that other stuff. He's back to the non-political revenge-minded fare now! Think of it as Lethal Weapon 5 strained through a 'Taken' filter. Only this time, he's not sharing screen time with a cute daughter that might upstage him, God forbid! No, she gets iced right up front, the way Jesus intended it, by God!
Directed by Martin Campbell, director of GoldenEye, Casino Royale, those two Bond-esque Zorro flicks... just think of this as the next Bond pic, only Bond's a little older, a little wiser, and he's not going to run down the middle of the street as fast... ah, who am I kidding? You're as fast as you ever were, Mel!

Fun fact: "When in Rome" is also the title of a Mary Kate and Ashley video, circa 2002. Another fun fact: The 2010 incarnation appears even more toothless -- and the actors in this version have all their grown-up teeth.

From the director of Ghost Rider... it won't be edgy, folks! Personally, I don't think Kristen Bell's ready to move up to the ranks of Reese Witherspoon, etc... Maybe I'm wrong about that. But isn't this the type of movie they were making fun of in Saving Private Marshall... I mean, Forgetting Sarah Marshall? How far you've fallen, KB!

Also, I have a theory that Jay O. Sanders ( Gibson's cop friend) is the love child of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly when they made Step Brothers and here is the photographic evidence to prove it!

"Edge of Darkness" - Sounds like one of those straight-to-cable thrillers they run on Cinemax. You know - the kind that star Tom Berenger, not Mel Gibson.

Edge of Darkness: The movie’s sole purpose is for Mel Gibson’s comeback. But it was also very entertaining.

When In Rome: Thought Leap Year was a bad? Well hooooo boy it's about to get even worse.

When In Rome: I am almost embarrassed to say I didn't completely hate it. I laughed a lot and occasionally cringed when they tried to get serious and then the movie was all downhill after the yellow clown car. The ending was sooooooo terribly written. I know this wasn't a good movie, but that blackout diner scene with the creepy hostess was killing me, it seemed like a restaurant idea someone might have actually tried at some point.

Edge of Darkness is a gripping thriller with a great comeback performance by Mel Gibson but its bland,cliched villains are a setback.

When In Rome...try not to nauseate the Romans with silly American cinema.

Hide your police badge, memorize some catchphrases, develop a thirst for Ginger Ale, and let’s be pushed to the EDGE... Of semi-dissapoinment.

When in Rome don't jump into a fountain and steal other people's wishes. But please try and find more funny.

When in Rome - one of its most distracting flaws is how short Kristen Bell is next to Josh Duhamel. The film tries (and fails) over and over again to get both of them in the same shot; really, it's pretty hilarious. The movie itself... not so much.

Edge of Darkness: Mel Gibson's return as a leading man is better than expected, but will never be up to par with Braveheart. Thank goodness it was better than Signs where his great moment was running around the house screaming, "I am insane with rage!!"

What struck me is how at odds the message of the film was with the way it was presented. So Gibson plays a grieving father whose daughter is shot with a high-powered shotgun right in front of him (that’s just the first of many shocking, violent outbursts) and that sets him upon a path of vengeance: just like “The Patriot,” “Braveheart,” “Payback,”—hell, even “Hamlet”!
