Star Wars was cool... when I was a kid. I've never seen the 1955 movie.

I invite everyone to check out the "Empire of Dreams" documentary.
Lucas especifically spliced together Dam Busters' and other WWII dogfight footage as a form of animatics (moving storyboard), in order to illustrate his editors how he wanted his dogfights to look like.
It's all right there in the 4th disc of the SW DVD box set. There's even a shot-by-shot comparison of the footage he put together and the scene where TIE fighters take on the MIllenium Falcon, right after they escape from the Death Star.
This is no secret and it's really old news.
Slow day at the RTS, I guess...

Neither ... there are only so many ways you can film a dogfight ... how many other WWII films include the same scenarios? Besides, we only see in this video the half-second clips that you've spliced together to make it look like "homage or stealing".
Star Wars was one of the most awesome films in the universe, George Lucas is too brilliant to need to steal someone else's intellectual property ...

Christopher_Hubble:
"there are only so many ways you can film a dogfight" might be a valid comment if the footage depicted a dogfight...
It's a bombing run man, that's as different as you can get. And there are a LOT of other ways you can film one. Considering Dambusters was just a massive enduring hit there's zero chance for any coincidence here. Like raulvalderrama - it's deliberate. But is it TOO deliberate? I think it probably is, or at least it's borderline.
