Appealing to donors for a fundraising event at the Apollo Theater in New York City last night President Obama, belted out a line in perfect pitch from Al Green’s song, “Let’s Stay Together.”
The president sang the line to Green himself — and about 1,400 others in attendance at the event. He then announced to the famous crooner, “Don’t worry Rev, I cannot sing like you, but I just wanted to show my appreciation.”
Performers at last night’s event included Green and India Arie. Tickets were $200 a piece and a projection from Politico stated that the president likely raised at least $3.1 million.
