Florida State Senator Paula Dockery (R-Lakeland) joins Jennifer Granholm to discuss the controversial topic of prison privatization. Dockery and her colleagues in the Florida legislature recently defeated a bill that would have privatized 29 prisons in the state, an increase from the seven facilities that are currently run locally by private corporations. Dockery says the claims of cost savings in private lockups are often inflated and can require states, in many cases, to imprison a specific number of inmates to save more money.
