President Obama spoke today in support of the Buffett Rule to tax more fairly and former President George W. Bush spoke in defense of tax cuts for the rich. Democratic strategist Donnie Fowler and former mayor of San Francisco Willie Brown joined Jennifer Granholm to talk about the issue of taxes and what it really comes down to.
Willie Brown says we need to go back to the foundation. “You share in the cost of government to the extent that you benefit from it in terms of your ability to pay,” Brown says.
And Fowler looks to the past. “There’s not a lot of historical proof that cutting taxes on the wealthiest Americans creates jobs,” Fowler says. “It’s a bad theory.”
