A Catholic for 27 years, she thinks church elders are putting their energy into the wrong issues. “In nearly three decades of Sunday worship, I’ve never heard priests talk to us about the importance of Catholics being contraception-free,” Jennifer says. “Not once.” Rather than coordinating a swift effort in an anti-birth control campaign, Jennifer wonders, what if the Catholic leadership in America put that same energy into an anti-poverty campaign during this election season? After all, isn’t that what Jesus would do?
