California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom visits “The War Room” to discuss a federal appeals panel decision that ruled the state’s Proposition 8 unconstitutional. Newsom has rallied against Prop. 8, a ballot initiative that limits the definition of marriage to a man and a woman. On Tuesday, Newsom praised the federal court’s decision but argued that the gay marriage issue warrants a decision that goes beyond California. “We’re making a lot of progress,” he said. “We’re hoping something goes before the Supreme Court.” Jennifer Granholm questioned Newsom’s opinion on Obama’s still “evolving” view of gay marriage, and Newsom supported the president saying, “I think he should do the right thing … It’s always the right time to do the right thing.”
