Talking with Jennifer Granholm in our “War Room,” former Newt Gingrich spokesman Rick Tyler has a few recommendations for Romney’s “war room.” “Romney has a very difficult problem connecting to the average voter,” Tyler tells Jennifer Granholm. “He needs to follow Barack Obama’s advice. He needs to tell stories, he needs to have surrogates tell stories — about Mitt Romney and who he is. I think people don’t know who he is. Who is this man? What is his character?” Tyler hesitates to call the November election, but says that although Romney should have the leg up given the economic climate, he doesn’t. “We should be smokin’ this guy, and we’re not. And that concerns me,” he says.
