Building on Barack Obama’s comments about his support for same-sex marriage, Jennifer Granholm tells the Republicans and Libertarians who are against the issue, “you ought to be thrilled that the government will not be substituting its judgement for yours in the matter of the heart.” But Granholm knows Obama took a risk and will alienate some voters. Still she says, “real courage is to stand up for what you know is right, regardless of the political cost.”
