With Mitt Romney leading in Arizona’s recent polls, former Rep. J.D. Hayworth explains why local voters there are lining up behind the former Massachusetts governor. Hayworth, a conservative radio talk show host who has endorsed Newt Gingrich, says Romney’s Mormon following and his boots on the ground campaign efforts in Arizona are giving him a boost – for now. Momentum can still change quickly in the state, Hayworth says, adding that Santorum could inch ahead with his socially conservative following. There’s also a “leave us alone” demographic who could swing for Ron Paul – and “Newt Gingrich remains the wild card in this entire race,” Hayworth says.
