Economist Joseph Stiglitz explains what’s wrong with trickle down economics, and why a trickle up theory is better. Stiglitz says most Americans are worse off than they were 10 years ago as a result of policies that have benefitted only a small group at the top of a pyramid where the wealth doesn’t trickle down. “By strengthening the base of the pyramid, improving education for all, giving opportunities for all, we will strengthen the whole pyramid and even the top will do well. You have to invest in the future. That’s the basic principle,” Stiglitz tells Jennifer Granholm.
