Who will withdraw ALEC funding next?

If progressive organizers have their way, companies like AT&T will follow the path of Coca Cola and Kraft and pull their funding for ALEC. The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) creates and supports legislation that promotes voter suppression across the country — a key reason why ColorofChange.org and other progressive groups are fighting back. Rashad Robinson, executive director of ColorofChange.org, talks with Jennifer Granholm about the coalition of progressive groups that will be reaching out to corporations to pull funding from ALEC. On Monday, the Gates Foundation said they will offer no future funds for ALEC. “This is not about the left or the right,” Robinson said. “There are not two sides to people being able to vote in the upcoming election … For these companies, we’ve really given them the last chance.”
