Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker signs laws, sends message that 'women's lives don't matter'

As Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker signs legislation that sets back standards of pay equity and reproductive rights for women, Jennifer Granholm asks how the GOP can continue to deny that a war on women exists. “It is just unbelievable that they continue week after week,” EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriok said of the persistent GOP efforts to limit women’s rights. “We’ve been fighting for pay equity in this country forever. We need those laws. We need a pay equity law now. And they’re throwing it out the window.” Michelle Bernard of the Bernard Center agrees: “Women are not demanding equal outcomes, but women demand equal opportunity.” Wisconsin’s legislation is “another message that seems to say women’s lives don’t matter.”
