How should U.S. citizens respond to Homeland Security keeping tabs on Occupy protests?

This week, Cenk spoke with Rolling Stone’s Michael Hastings about his story revealing that Homeland Security has been monitoring Occupy Wall Street protests.

Hastings writes in his article:

It’s never a good thing to see a government agency talk in secret about the need to “control protestors” – especially when that agency is charged with protecting the homeland against terrorists, not nonviolent demonstrators exercising their First Amendment rights to peaceable dissent.

In light of DHS report and implications that Occupy protesters are getting the same surveillance meant for terrorists, how should U.S. citizens respond?
