TVNewser reported Wednesday that Sean Hannity has locked up the first interview with George Zimmerman and his attorney, Mark O’Mara. The interview will air Wednesday night. This might have been more surprising if Michael Skolnik, GlobalGrind.com’s editor-in-chief, hadn’t already predicted exactly that on Tuesday night’s “TYT.”
Skolnik appeared on “The Young Turks” to take Cenk through how he discovered that “Fox News” host Sean Hannity may have offered to pay for Zimmerman’s legal defense following his arrest for fatally shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. After listening to tapes recorded while Zimmerman was in jail, Skolnik did some digging into Zimmerman, referencing contact made with a mysterious person called “S.H.”
Research indicated that “S.H” could very well be Sean Hannity, but what remained unclear to Cenk was why Hannity would offer at all. In a later portion of the segment, Cenk asks, “What is it about Zimmerman — and obviously we’re guessing here — that would motivate Hannity to put up so much money in his defense?”
“Let’s not forget that Mr. Robert Zimmerman, George Zimmerman’s father — that the first interview he gave was to Sean Hannity,” Skolnik says, adding that GlobalGrind.com also broke a story that CBS had allegedly offered flowers to Zimmerman’s parents in case they needed someone to talk to during such a difficult time. “So, of course, everybody was fighting — is still fighting — for that first interview with George Zimmerman. Paying for legal defense fees would probably be cheap if they could get that interview with George.”
In an official statement, Fox denied that Hannity ever offered to contribute to Zimmerman’s defense — but it looks like Hannity will be the media ratings winner anyway.
